Job Description
Scope of Position:
To coordinate the clearance of freight documentation through the relevant customs authorities. Working with our customers to guide and advise on customs regulation requirements both in the origin and destination countries.
Shift patterns may apply for this role.
Major Duties and Responsibilities:
1. Coordinate the process of customs clearance documentation for our customer base.
2. Deal with the customs authority on a daily basis.
3. Deliver excellent customer service to all customers.
4. Be the specialist for all customs compliance issues and assist in resolving all issues with the customer.
5. Assist in the review of all policies, procedures and controls put in place.
6. Ensure the relevant regulations are in place for all customers/business.
7. Identify improvement opportunities, risks, or IT solutions which ensure the advancement of compliance and install control.
8. Develop & utilize the Expeditors Network to ensure a uniformed approach throughout the region and exchange best practices.
9. Work on assigned key account customers to ensure their needs are met.
10. Continue to develop knowledge on customs requirements, ensuring new regulations are understood and implemented where required.
11. Ensure Duty/VAT is processed correctly & collected as required.
12. Ensure any queries/refunds are followed up and resolved immediately.
13. Review, update & retain all DLSOPs. Ensure they remain updated and implemented efficiently. Assist Sales & Account Management with cost-saving solutions & options.
14. Complete daily and weekly audits on all entries.
15. Ensure you keep up to date on the latest Customs Regulations updates & changes.
16. Develop and issue the training of new staff within the department. Update all current staff with changes & updates.
Qualifications
Experience and Education:
1. 1 - 2 years experience within the Customs Industry.
2. Excellent knowledge of Irish customs procedures & systems.
3. Effective interpersonal skills.
4. Ability to relate to customers and internal employees at all levels.
5. Previous experience with Word, Excel, Windows, Email, and various PC-based software.
