Our client is one of Ireland's leading Civil/Utility Contractors with operations throughout Dublin / Leinster.
The successful Health and Safety Advisor will be supporting the delivery of projects across all aspects of the business from a Health and Safety point of view.
A strong ethos on health and safety, compliance, reporting, and documentation are essential qualities.
Responsibilities
1. Provide health and safety training to employees including but not limited to manual handling, toolbox talks, and safety induction.
2. Conduct safety inspections and audits.
3. Approach accident prevention and protection of the environment positively.
4. Assist in the preparation of reports on occurrences and provide statistical information to management.
5. Implement the company’s health, safety, and environmental policy, procedures, and management systems.
6. Assist in the maintenance of Health & Safety KPIs to help drive improvement.
7. Support management in the development of H&S procedures, policies, and programs.
8. Work as part of the HSQE team to ensure a safe and productive work environment.
9. Improve the standard of Health & Safety in a practical manner.
10. Monitor and enforce the implementation of the Health & Safety Management System.
11. Identify site-specific hazards and ensure they are addressed.
12. Maintain clear communication with the H&S Manager.
13. Ensure site folders and statutory records are maintained.
14. Ensure strict adherence to site rules by all personnel.
15. Assist site management to comply with statutory H&S requirements.
16. Assist the Health & Safety Manager in developing and implementing risk assessments.
17. Coordinate the safe systems of work for all personnel.
18. Carry out H&S auditing on site and address non-conformances.
19. Contribute to accident and incident investigations.
20. Identify training needs for GMC personnel and contractors.
21. Perform ad hoc tasks as needed.
Requirements
1. A 3rd level qualification in Health and Safety is desirable.
2. Civils, drainage, or utilities (water & electricity) experience.
3. Confident, motivated, and able to work independently as well as part of a team.
4. Ability to work under pressure with strict deadlines.
5. Time management abilities to meet targets.
6. Good communication, interpersonal, and customer service skills.
7. Integrity and respect for confidentiality and privacy.
8. Strong relationship builder with key stakeholders.
9. Ability to manage risk and implement control measures.
10. Able to build strong relationships with contractors from various backgrounds and trades.
