Cartoon Saloon, established in 1999 by Paul Young, Tomm Moore, and Nora Twomey, is a world renowned animation studio with five Academy Award® and two Golden Globe® nominations and many award wins including BAFTA® and Emmy®. Located in Kilkenny, Ireland, the studio produces brave and beautiful shorts, feature films, and TV series. Cartoon Saloon is the founder and host of Kilkenny Animated, an annual festival of visual storytelling incorporating exhibitions, talks and performances celebrating the creativity of the animation craft.
As a Layout Supervisor you will be responsible for:
* Following the animatic, work closely with the director to establish visual language as relates to shot set up, composition, lens choice and camera movement
* To work closely with Director, Art Director (s), TD and Production Manager to deliver complete layout breakdown list as required by production
* To brief each Layout Lead & Artists on their assigned tasks
* To ensure each Layout Artist follows location designs
* To help each Layout artist adhere to their assigned quotas
* To ensure consistency and continuity of all layouts
* To deliver technically clearly named and well layered files to the scene prep and background departments following established protocols
* To attend departmental kick-off meetings, reviews and director approvals as needed.
* To supervise and deliver any additional Layouts or Layout fixes as required by the scene prep or background team.
* To report to the Production Manager and Line Producer as needed, informing them of any possible delays in the production.
* Be available on Google chats and by emails during working hours

* Be involved in recruitment process of BG Final Line Team; reviewing and assessing potential candidates to shortlist for testing and subsequently interview
* The ideal candidate should have at least 3 years experience as Layout Supervisor theatrically distributed 2D features and/or aired television series.
* Strong artistic skills with an aesthetic for perspective, scale and composition
* Excellent problem solving skills
* Ability to meet deadlines as established by production management
* Ability to multitask and prioritise
* Excellent organisational and communication skills
* Strong attention to detail
* Promote a good work ethic and positive atmosphere within the team
* Assist in keeping information related to the project confidential and secure
* Attend and contribute to relevant meetings and trainings as needed
* Knowledge of asset tracking and database software (such as Shotgrid) is a distinct advantage
* Be available on Google Chat and by emails during working hours
