**Assistant Operations Manager Role at a Leading Agricultural Player in Cork**
We are seeking an experienced Assistant Operations Manager to join our team on a permanent basis due to continued growth within the business.
The ideal candidate will have a strong background in operations, preferably within the agricultural sector, and possess excellent people and relationship management skills.
This role provides full support to the Operations Manager in all activities related to running the site, ensuring seamless execution of daily operations.
Key Responsibilities:
* Oversee and coordinate daily operational activities to ensure smooth execution.
* E nsure compliance with industry best practices and company standards.
* Support the management of operational staff, including training, scheduling, and performance evaluation.
* E nsure appropriate supervisory, operational, and third-party coverage for all vessel discharge operations.
* Drive efficiency and effectiveness in all operational processes.
* Maintain strong communication with suppliers and customers to facilitate smooth product flow in and out of facilities.
People Management:
* Support the development of onsite personnel through training and mentorship.
* Contribute to training programs that align with internal and external best practices.
* Foster a positive and collaborative work environment.
* Work closely with the Operations Manager to implement systems for performance management, absence management, succession planning, and recruitment.
* Promote a culture of excellence, accountability, and continuous improvement.
Technical Responsibilities:
* Assist in managing and maintaining company standards such as ISO9001, health & safety, and environmental policies in collaboration with central support teams.
Cost Control:
* Identify opportunities for cost optimization and efficiency improvements.
* Assist in managing port operational budgets, ensuring alignment with financial targets.
* Support the implementation of continuous improvement initiatives to control operational expenses.
Quality Assurance:
* Oversee compliance with company standards, including ISO9001, and ensure audit readiness.
* Maintain expertise in quality standards and best practices.
* Act as a key point of contact for internal and external stakeholders, including DAFM, Port of Cork, stevedores, and ship's agents.
Team Leadership:
* Motivate and lead a diverse team in alignment with company values and standards.
* Maintain open communication with internal and external stakeholders to ensure seamless collaboration.
Performance Measurement:
* Establish and track annual KPIs to drive operational efficiency, safety, and customer service excellence.
* Develop and implement recovery plans when needed to meet performance targets.
* Analyze data to identify root causes of issues and implement corrective actions.
Organizational & Administrative Responsibilities:
* Maintain accurate records, reports, and planning systems.
* Support the implementation of corporate policies and strategies.
* E nsure compliance with relevant legislation.
* Assist with the timely and accurate completion of all administrative and reporting tasks.
