Overview
On behalf of our client, we are seeking a compassionate and experienced Director of Nursing for a 32-bed facility located in a quiet area of Sligo. This home-away-from-home setting is ideal for a Director who is committed to fostering a warm, personalised atmosphere for both residents and staff.
The ideal candidate will bring strong leadership abilities and a passion for delivering high-quality, individualised care in full compliance with HIQA regulations.
Key Responsibilities
* Leadership & Management: Lead and inspire the nursing team to maintain the highest standards of resident-centered care.
* Policy & Compliance: Develop and oversee nursing policies and procedures to ensure compliance with HIQA standards and regulations. Prepare for and participate in HIQA inspections, ensuring all aspects of care meet regulatory requirements.
* HIQA Compliance: Maintain up-to-date knowledge of HIQA regulations, leading the facility’s preparation for inspections, addressing any identified gaps, and implementing corrective actions as necessary.
* Collaboration: Work closely with other healthcare professionals to support a cohesive and inclusive team environment.
* Staff Development: Mentor and provide professional development opportunities for nursing staff to enhance skills and growth.
* Resource Management: Oversee nursing budgets and resources to maximize patient care outcomes and support facility objectives.
Qualifications
* Education & Registration: Completion of a management course. Min 3 years management Experience.
* Experience: Proven management experience in a healthcare setting, with experience in meeting regulatory standards and managing HIQA inspection processes.
* Skills: Strong communication and interpersonal skills to foster a collaborative and positive work environment.
* Knowledge: A solid understanding of HIQA regulations, as well as diversity, equality, and inclusion principles in healthcare delivery.
Day-to-Day Responsibilities
* Team Collaboration: Engage with interdisciplinary teams to prioritise resident care and quality of life.
* Staff Meetings: Conduct regular meetings with nursing staff to share updates, address concerns, and encourage continuous improvement.
* Performance Review: Monitor and analyze staff performance data to identify areas for development in collaboration with HR Dept and regional managers.
* Guidance & Support: Offer hands-on support and guidance to nursing staff in complex care situations.
* Regulatory Compliance: Ensure compliance with all HIQA regulations and standards, conducting regular audits and assessments to maintain readiness for both announced and unannounced inspections.
