In this role, you will develop and deliver a supply chain circularity programme that will support our public commitments under Primark Cares, elevate waste management practices across our supply base and help to establish scalable solutions for textile-to-textile recycling.

What You’ll Do:
In your role, you’ll collaborate with different people across a range of departments, markets and skillsets. Here’s a flavour of your day-to-day:
1. Strategy Development & Deployment: Collaborate with stakeholders to create and implement a circularity strategy centred upon our global manufacturing base, with a clear focus on post-industrial waste.
2. Waste Management Programme: To support the broader circularity programme, develop and deploy a best-in-class waste management programme across the supply base, ensuring alignment with regulatory due diligence requirements.
3. Textile-to-Textile Recycling: Using your understanding of materials, work collaboratively to define and activate a scalable textile-to-textile/waste-to-fibre strategy.
4. Integration and Target Delivery: Seamlessly integrate new strategies into enterprise-wide sourcing and sustainability programmes by developing robust and measurable targets.
5. Innovation & Capacity Building: Explore technical solutions needed to deliver against programme goals, elevating skills and capabilities where required to aid global deployment.
6. Materials Expertise: With a strong technical understanding of synthetic materials, co-lead the evolution of Primark’s Microfibre strategy, in addition to developing and maintaining relevant materials policies.
7. Key Interactions and Engagement as part of this role:
* As a subject matter expert, work with our government affairs team to provide input and guidance in relation to legislative developments.
* Identify synergies between this programme and the broader scope of sustainability work within Primark.
* Embody collaboration by working cross-functionally across key teams, including Primark Cares, ethical trade, sourcing, product sustainability, quality, and compliance.
* Engagement with programme partners and industry associations in relation to this work will be essential.
What You’ll Bring

* Minimum of 8 years relevant professional experience in Materials.
* Technical expertise relating to textiles, synthetic materials, manufacturing, chemistry, engineering.
* Relevant professional certification (i.e. CEnv or CEng) preferred, but can be worked towards in role if not yet achieved.
* Extensive, proven experience establishing sustainability programmes within a global business.
* A collaborative enterprise-wide thinker accustomed to designing and embedding change in large-scale organisations.
* Demonstrated ability to develop a culture that embraces innovation and challenges existing paradigms without compromising business performance.
