Job Title: Electrical Validation Engineer
Location: Tuam, Galway.
Department: EMC/ET Validation Team
The Electrical Validation Engineer is responsible for overseeing all EMC/ET (Electromagnetic Compatibility/Environmental Testing) validation activities from the RFQ (Request for Quotation) phase through to final customer acceptance for a defined project. This role ensures that all activities are performed in line with Valeo’s internal rules and applicable international standards. The individual will be the main point of contact for EMC/ET-related testing, working closely with the design, engineering, and project teams to ensure successful project delivery.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
* EMC/ET Requirement Analysis: Analyse relevant EMC/ET requirements based on project specifications, standards, and regulations.
* Test Planning: Define and develop EMC/ET test cases based on the identified requirements, applicable standards, and documents such as the Functional Safety Concept. Ensure alignment with project goals and customer needs.
* Test Documentation: Write, review, and maintain the EMC/ET Test Plan, ensuring it is complete, accurate, and approved in a timely manner.
* FVS Preparation: Prepare FVS (Functional Validation Scope) from an EMC/ET perspective, ensuring a thorough approach to validation.
* Cost Estimation: Generate accurate cost estimations for EMC/ET validation activities, ensuring that resources are appropriately allocated.
* Lead EMC/ET Validation Activities: Manage and oversee EMC/ET validation activities, including equipment setup, scheduling, and coordination of internal and external resources.
* Test Report Review: Review and evaluate EMC/ET test reports, ensuring all necessary information is accurately documented and aligned with the testing requirements.
* Failure Analysis & Optimization: Analyse test failures and propose design optimizations to address issues identified during validation.
* Internal Communication: Communicate regularly with the internal team, providing updates on test status, progress, and results.
* Interface with Design Team: Work closely with the EMC/ET Design Team to ensure alignment on testing and validation strategies.
* Customer Communication: Engage with customers regarding EMC/ET topics, providing clear, concise updates on test status, results, and reports.
* Failure Reporting: In case of failures during validation, create failure tickets and report issues to the project team, including M-MP, R&D Mechatronics PTM, and EMC Design Engineers.
* Product Conformity: Support product conformity processes as per Type Approval requirements.
* Risk Analysis Support: Assist the EMC/ET Design Engineer in performing EMC/ET risk analysis to ensure compliance with industry standards.
KEY REQUIREMENTS
* Degree in Electronic Engineering, Physics, Electronics/RF Microwaves, or equivalent field.
* Strong communication skills, both verbal and written, are essential.
* The individual must demonstrate a high level of commitment, initiative, and quality of workmanship in an R&D environment.
* Minimum of 2 years of relevant experience in a similar role.
* Background knowledge of automotive systems, particularly:
o Car batteries (12V ~100A)
o Power systems (cold cranking amps over 1000A for short periods)
o Inrush currents
* A higher level of technical understanding of Automotive Electrical Testing would be preferable but is not a strict requirement.
* This role operates within standard working hours: 8:30 AM - 5:00 PM
