Data Center Technician, Data Center Operations (DCO)
Amazon Web Services (AWS) is growing rapidly, and we are looking for a Data Center Technician to join our expanding Infrastructure Operations team.
Data Center Operations designs, installs, and maintains the world’s largest Computing Infrastructure. Our scope of work includes systems, repairing, dealing with issues, handling and tracking parts, and assisting in Data Center maintenance. Amazon Data Centers are large-scale high-density centers where you will help change the face of Technology in the region.
Key Job Responsibilities
As a Data Center Operations Engineer, you will be the primary point of contact for internal customers. There is never a dull moment as each day presents itself with different challenges. Some of the key responsibilities you will undertake are:
1. You will troubleshoot technical issues on advanced hardware, ranging from servers, storage, and networking devices on a 24/7 basis.
2. You will maintain a high level of system reliability and availability.
3. You will participate in projects to enhance operational efficiencies with opportunities to share experiences and knowledge with our global network of technical experts.
4. You will share knowledge and help train less technical staff on the best practices related to all service owner issues.
5. You will contribute towards building a great team by getting involved in the Amazon hiring process/candidate interviews.

AWS Infrastructure Services owns the design, planning, delivery, and operation of all AWS global infrastructure. In other words, we’re the people who keep the cloud running. We support all AWS data centers and all of the servers, storage, networking, power, and cooling equipment that ensure our customers have continual access to the innovation they rely on. We work on the most challenging problems, with thousands of variables impacting the supply chain — and we’re looking for talented people who want to help.
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS
Basic Qualifications:
1. Solid Understanding of Linux/Unix Administration
2. Server Hardware Troubleshooting experience
3. Server Booting: POST, BIOS, PXE, Kickstart, GRUB/LILO, RAID
4. Some Experience with Network Protocols: TCP/IP, Ethernet, L2/L3 technologies
5. Network Hardware: Copper and Optical Fiber Cabling, Switches, Routers
6. Strong Communication Skills
7. Passionate about IT infrastructure and hardware!
8. This position also has a physical component requiring the ability to lift & rack equipment up to 20kg; it may require working in cramped spaces or in elevated locations while adhering to health & safety guidelines.
9. This role involves covering 24x7 shift rotation
10. Server Hardware and network fiber hands-on experiences required
11. Experience in Network troubleshooting, Optical Fiber Cabling, Switches, and Routers
12. Comfortable acting as escalation, Strong communication skills with business level of verbal and written skills
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
1. Remote Access: Console routers, IPMI, BMC
2. Network Equipment Installation and Configuration
3. Cisco IOS, NX-OS, JunOS
4. Redundancy: Power feeds, ATS, Server Hardware, RAID, Network Connectivity
5. Data Center Operations: Inventory Management, Hot/Cold Aisles, Security
6. Participated in Project Management
7. Experience or Knowledge of AWS products: EC2, EBS, S3 etc.
8. Scripting: Bash, Python, Perl, Ruby (or programming languages)
9. Linux certification and/or administration experience - RHCSA/RHCE, LPIC, Linux+
10. Networking certification - CCENT/CCNA, Network+
11. Scripting skills – e.g., Python, Ruby, Perl, Bash
12. Server+, A+, CompTIA
