Catering Officer, Grade II
Reports to Operations Manager
Purpose of the post
The successful candidate will be responsible for the day-to-day operations of catering services throughout the hospital. Leading a team of catering staff, the Catering Officer will optimise the quality of the food service to patients and staff, in accordance with food safety regulations and best practice.
Key Responsibilities
* Optimise the quality of the food service to patients and staff
* Build good working relationships with all departments throughout the hospital
* Work as part of a multi-disciplinary team
Person Specification
* Working knowledge of Food Safety including HACCP, Health and Safety legislation, and general hygiene awareness
* Awareness and appreciation of the service user
* Ability to manage deadlines and effectively handle multiple tasks and deliver change
* Ability to stay calm and flexible under pressure
* Possess leadership and team management skills
* Motivated and innovative approach to the role and service developments
Qualifications and Experience
The ideal candidate will have:
* Statutory Registration, Professional Qualifications, Experience, etc.
* Minimum 2 years supervisory experience in the Catering/Healthcare/Hospitality industry
* Excellent people management skills
* Excellent organisational, communication, and planning skills
* Passionate about Customer Service
* Ability to conduct oneself in a professional manner at all times, especially when in the public eye
* Customer-focused, innovative, motivating, and enthusiastic for this hands-on role
* In-depth knowledge of Hazard Analysis Critical Control Points (HACCP) including food safety and hygiene
* Proficient in Microsoft Office Word, Excel, Outlook, and MS 365
* Demonstrate financial awareness and ability to operate service within budget
* Demonstrate knowledge of health & safety and employment legislation as it applies to the role
