Peamount Healthcare is an independent voluntary organisation that provides a range of high-quality health and social care services. These services include older person rehabilitation, neurorehabilitation, rheumatology rehabilitation, respiratory rehabilitation along with residential care for older persons, persons with intellectual disability, and those with complex neuro disability.

Purpose of Post
The Porter will be responsible for all aspects of the outlined principal roles and duties.
Eligibility Criteria Qualifications & Experience
Essential:
1. Education to Leaving Certificate level or equivalent.
2. Manual handling and patient handling training certificate or willingness to complete equivalent.
3. Full clean driving license.
Desirable:
1. Experience working in a healthcare environment.
2. Experience in customer service.
Skills, Competencies and Knowledge
1. Have excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
2. Have fluent command and understanding of English language to include spoken and written.
Principal Duties and Responsibilities
1. Transport of patients for rehabilitation activities within hospital grounds.
2. Transport can be wheelchair or walking, including transferring patients, to include patients that are independent or require supervision or assistance.
3. Drive a vehicle within the hospital grounds.
4. Replace one therapy staff member for transportation (e.g. physiotherapist, occupational therapist, occupational therapy assistant, physiotherapy assistant).
5. Transport for group and/or individual rehabilitation sessions.
6. Collecting rehabilitation stock and devices as required e.g. transporting wheelchairs from old canteen to the Aberdeen Centre.
7. Maintain portering stock in good condition e.g. portering wheelchair.
8. Transporting medical charts e.g. bringing medical chart to a rehabilitation session with a patient.
9. Potential other duties discussed – could be considered for inclusion in scope: Bringing new admissions to the ward (non-ambulance patients).
Tenure
The current vacancy available is on a 13 week fixed term basis.
Remuneration
Remuneration is in accordance with the salary scale approved by the Department of Health: Porter (4197)
Current salary scale with effect from 1st October 2024: €34,195 (point 1) to €41,723 (Max point)
Working Week
The hours allocated to this post are 39 hours per week. The allocation of these hours will be at the discretion of the Department Head and in accordance with the needs of the service. Your contracted hours of work are liable to change between the hours of 8 am to 8 pm over 7 days to meet the requirements for extended day services in accordance with the terms of the Framework Agreement.

Probation
All employees will be subject to a probationary period as per the probation policy.
Pension
Employees of Peamount Healthcare are required to be members of the Hospitals Superannuation Scheme.

Peamount Healthcare will carry out Garda vetting on all new employees.
