Process Development Engineer - Medical Device Development (Contract)
I am looking for a self-employed/freelance contractor who is available to take on new projects for a Global Medical device company to assist in designing and developing new processes with specialist skills in laser welding/keyhole welding techniques.
Purpose: To provide support in the creation and development of new medical device products, both invasive and non-invasive, with a focus on additive manufacturing. This role involves collaborating with Design, Quality, and Manufacturing teams to seamlessly integrate new products, equipment, or processes into production.
Responsibilities:
1. Research, develop, design, and evaluate mechanical and electro-mechanical materials, components, assemblies, processes, and equipment.
2. Develop new concepts from initial design through to market release.
3. Technical knowledge to innovate, design, and develop processes, procedures, tooling, and/or automation.
4. Assist the Process Development group in designing new equipment for new products and manufacturing.
5. Work closely with machine vendors to ensure equipment is designed, built, and tested according to specifications, and properly handed over to manufacturing.
6. Equipment validation experience (IQ, OQ, PQ).
7. Demonstrate strong knowledge and application of Lean methodologies and process improvement tools to identify and eliminate waste and develop efficient, cost-effective equipment and processes.
Essential Skills:
1. Experience in Chemical Analysis and Particle Size Distribution relating to Additive Manufacturing processes.
Preferred Experience:
1. Experience with electronic implantable devices.
2. Experience with Laser Systems & Laser materials processing (Welding, Marking, Cutting, etc.).
3. Knowledge of CNC code or CAD/CAM.
4. Experience with 3D printing.
On-Site Requirement:
This role requires a minimum of 4 days per week on-site.
