We are currently seeking to recruit a Fuel Contracts Negotiator. The Fuel Contracts Negotiator report into the Forward Trading Desk Head. The Forward Trading Team consists of the Forward Trading Desk Head, 5 traders, 1 Originator and the Fuel Contract Negotiator. The desk is actively involved in wholesale energy trading in the UK, European and Irish markets. The primary function of the team is the hedging of the gross margin for ESBs thermal and renewable fleet of generation in line with current trading and risk policy and the procurement of physical fuel supply. In addition, the team will also conduct the day-to-day trading requirements of ESB Trading in line with its trading strategy. This will include execution of asset optimisation strategies, fuel procurement policies and power hedging activities.
Key Responsibilities
Responsibilities will cover the items below:
1. Responsible for ensuring timely delivery of suitable fuels to ESB generation fleet
2. Keep abreast of current trends and developments in areas of expertise
3. Maintain knowledge and skills in order to carry out full range of duties
4. Facilitate and support others in achievement of team goals and contribute positively to the development of the team and self
5. Demonstrate flexibility and adaptability to change
6. Responsibility for developing a diverse suite of counterparties with diverse sources of coal from different locations
7. Liaising with Moneypoint on coal quality and specification issue
8. Liaising with Moneypoint on coal yard stock levels and how best to manage
9. Managing the logistics of the shipment including nominating vessels, load port and discharge port laycans
10. Negotiating the coal contracts both spot and term contracts including regulatory and safety requirements.
11. Liaising with ESB legal on contracts
12. Develop subject matter expertise on the physical coal markets and their drivers
13. Negotiate CIF and FOB contracts including freight
14. Liaise with insurance on relevant insurance cover required
15. Liaise with Treasury and Back Office on payment schedules and FX requirements
16. Liaise with Shannon Foynes Port Authority on safety issues and tug rates
17. Develop oil purchasing capability
18. Other responsibilities as required by management.
Knowledge, Skills and Experience
Essential
19. 5+ years relevant experience
20. Experience is using Excel and Microsoft suite
21. Experience in contract negotiations
22. High level understanding of the I-SEM market
23. Highly numerate
24. Excellent communication skills
25. Experience in managing stakeholders.
Desirable
26. Experience in front line trading/operations

Third level qualification with a strong quantative/financial/economics base or equivalent work experience is required.
