Role Description
This is a full-time on-site role for a Food Safety & Quality Manager located in Clonmel. The Food Safety & Quality Manager will be responsible for ensuring compliance with food safety regulations, developing and implementing quality control measures, conducting audits, and overseeing the overall food safety and quality management systems.
Qualifications
* Knowledge of food safety regulations and quality control standards
* Experience in conducting audits and implementing quality management systems
* Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
* Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
* Attention to detail and ability to work well under pressure
* Experience in the food and beverage industry is a plus
* Bachelor's degree in Food Science, Nutrition, Microbiology, or related field
Main Duties
Reporting to the General Manager:
1. Establishing and implementing hygiene, GMP and compliance as per BRC FSMA and customer standards
2. Leading QA team, including stepping in to complete QA checks if necessary
3. Ensuring all Quality Staff are provided with appropriate tools and training in order to successfully carry out their duties
4. Keeping the site and documents in Audit-Ready condition, in partnership with management and the wider Merry’s team
5. Liaising with auditors and ensuring the execution of corrective actions and compliance with standards
6. Championing Quality Culture and teamwork to Always Achieve Better
7. Ensuring QMS, product, processes and labelling is compliant with and kept up to date with all relevant regulation and legislation. Checks on new labels conducted in tandem with NPD.
8. Carrying out Internal Audits and/or delegating to appropriately trained team members
9. Ensuring HACCP, VACCP & TACCP plans are maintained and monitored
10. Document control and authorisation of other departments’ controlled documents, ensuring they are in compliance with the relevant standards (BRCGS, customer standards etc)
11. Ensuring site and all processes are aligned with all relevant standards.
12. Ensuring all products are within specification before leaving the site
13. Arranging/compiling Health Certs, Certs of Analysis / Quality, Certs of Age, Bottle Certification, Export Certificate for products leaving the site in accordance with legal or customer requirements
14. Upkeep and replenishment of preventative maintenance record sheets for all machinery in conjunction with the Maintenance team
15. Maintenance of Approved Supplier list, in consultation with NPD and purchasing staff
16. Oversight of Hygiene training and compliance with PPE procedures
17. Maintenance of the QA lab and equipment, and stock of lab consumables
18. Annual renewal of Origin Green
19. Updating and maintaining Quality Controls and Documentation
20. Presenting internal audit findings, learnings, non-conformances and areas for improvement at monthly management meetings
21. Working closely with other team managers to ensure site-wide compliance with quality procedures
22. Handling of complaints including customer’s complaints portals
23. Root cause analysis and leading of investigations into non-compliances (internal and external)
24. Maintenance and upkeep of shelf-life analysis
25. Co-ordinating internal sampling and swabbing procedures and external testing and calibration
26. Upkeep of pest control as per standards and site requirements
27. Setting annual quality objectives and ensuring targets are reached
28. Implementing and delivering on all relevant continuous improvement
29. Writing technical and management system reports
