Job Title: Transport Planner

Role Overview:
A reputable logistics company in East Cork is looking for a skilled Transport Planner to join its Operations Team. The successful candidate will oversee the daily planning for assigned customer groups and/or geographical regions. Reporting to the Transport Manager, this role is crucial in ensuring operational efficiency and aligning with company values, policies, and services.
The ideal candidate will have strong organizational skills, analytical mindset, and problem-solving ability. They should be fluent in written and spoken English, proactive, and able to work independently under pressure. Multilingual abilities are an advantage.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Develop and implement daily transport plans in coordination with other planners.
2. Evaluate accuracy and efficiency in the routing of drivers, trucks, and equipment.
3. Collaborate with fellow planners to optimize resource allocation and logistics.
4. Maintain effective communication with Transport Administrators to ensure high-quality customer service.
5. Provide clear, accurate instructions and updates to drivers.
6. Address discrepancies and ensure job instructions are properly recorded.
7. Monitor driver working hours throughout the week.
8. Manage driver leave requests to ensure adequate staffing during critical periods.
9. Support the Transport Administration Team as required.
10. Ensure timely dissemination of essential instructions to drivers.
11. Elevate operational, safety, and HR concerns as necessary.
12. Promote continuous improvement and efficiency in planning operations.
13. Assist the Transport Manager in defining and tracking Key Performance Metrics.
14. Meet Monthly and Annual Performance Indicators.
15. Uphold the highest standard of customer service aligned with company values.
16. Identify and propose operational improvements to management.
17. Attend relevant operational meetings as required.
18. Report quality or safety risks and suggest enhancements.
19. Provide on-call support outside standard working hours on a rotational basis.
Qualifications & Experience:
* Degree in Transport & Logistics or equivalent relevant experience.
* Minimum of 2 years in a similar role.
