Job Summary:
North is a dynamic and innovative technology company dedicated to reshaping the landscape of financial risk and compliance management. We seek a Data Engineer with focus on building scalable data solutions to join our talented team at the Fraud & Risk Management Research & Development Centre of Excellence in Limerick.
Position Overview:
As a Data Engineer, you will play a critical role in building and maintaining the data infrastructure that powers our organization's data-driven initiatives. You will design, develop, and deploy scalable and reliable data pipelines, ensuring data quality, availability, and performance, while collaborating with development teams, product managers and stakeholders.
This position will be responsible for managing our platform's data handling, including defining the data model and collaborating with engineers to implement it.
What you’ll do:
* Define data structures, mappings and flows to enable performant data processing and analysis.
* Research and evaluate data technologies and tools to support our business goals, including hands-on technical evaluation and PoCs.
* Design, build, and maintain ETL/ELT pipelines to extract, transform, and load data from various sources.
* Develop and implement data integration solutions to ensure seamless data flow across systems.
* Monitor and optimize data pipelines for performance and reliability.
* Design and implement data storage solutions, including caching, partitioning, and indexing to improve performance.
* Produce and contribute to high-quality documentation.
What we need from you:
* 3+ years of experience in data engineering, data warehousing, or related roles.
* Bachelor’s degree in a relevant discipline or relevant experience.
* Experience working in the financial services, financial technology and risk management industry.
* Excellent problem-solving and decision-making skills.
* Experience developing data pipelines and streaming flows for cloud-based data platforms (e.g. AWS, GCP, Azure).
* In-depth knowledge of relational databases (e.g. PostgreSQL, MySQL) and familiarity with NoSQL databases (e.g. MongoDB, DynamoDB, Neo4J, etc).
* Knowledge of one or more programming languages (e.g. Python, SQL, Bash, Java, Scala, R).
* Knowledge of data storage and analytics solutions (e.g. Snowflake, DataBricks).
* Knowledge of data visualisation tools (e.g., Sigma, Tableau, Looker, PowerBI).
* Experience implementing security measures and ensuring compliance with data privacy and security regulations.
* Experience with streaming data platforms (e.g. Kafka, Kinesis).
Additional information: This is a hybrid role - as part of our hybrid work model, employees are expected to be onsite at our Limerick City office on in-office days.
