Our client, a 4-star hotel in Ireland, is seeking an experienced Financial Controller to oversee all aspects of financial management. This key leadership role ensures the integrity of financial reporting, regulatory compliance, and strategic financial planning. The Financial Controller will lead the finance team and work closely with senior management to support decision-making, drive operational efficiency, and enhance profitability.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Financial Reporting & Compliance – Prepare and manage monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements, ensuring accuracy, transparency, and adherence to financial regulations.
2. Internal Controls & Policies – Develop and implement robust financial policies, procedures, and internal controls to maintain financial integrity.
3. Strategic Financial Planning – Provide financial insights and analysis to support business growth, cost control, and overall performance improvement.
4. Budgeting & Forecasting – Lead budgeting and forecasting processes, ensuring alignment with the hotel’s strategic and operational goals.
5. Cost & Payroll Management – Oversee payroll processing, labor costs, and overall cost control within the hotel, ensuring financial efficiency.
6. Cash Flow & Risk Management – Manage cash flow, financial risk assessment, and mitigation strategies to ensure financial stability and sustainability.
7. Audit & Regulatory Compliance – Liaise with external auditors and regulatory bodies to ensure compliance, facilitate audits, and implement necessary recommendations.
8. Technology & Systems Management – Ensure the effective use of financial software and automation tools, including Sage 50, to streamline financial operations.
9. Team Leadership & Development – Manage and mentor the finance team, fostering a culture of excellence and continuous improvement.
10. Stakeholder Collaboration – Work closely with the General Manager, Heads of Department, and external partners to support financial decision-making.
Qualifications & Experience:
* Irish hotel industry experience is required, with a strong understanding of financial operations within a hospitality environment.
* Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, or a related field; a Master’s degree or professional qualification (e.g., ACA, ACCA, CIMA) is preferred.
* Minimum of 5 years of experience in a financial management role, ideally within the hotel/hospitality or service industry in Ireland.
* Strong expertise in cost control and payroll management, ensuring optimal financial performance.
* Proficiency in Sage 50 and financial software.
* Excellent analytical skills, attention to detail, and ability to interpret financial data.
* Strong leadership, communication, and problem-solving abilities.
* Ability to present financial data clearly to senior management and non-financial stakeholders.
