Abbott Ireland Diabetes Care Division Donegal
The Abbott Diabetes Care division based in Donegal Town manufactures FreeStyle blood glucose test strips and FreeStyle Sensors for use in diabetes management. Among Abbott Diabetes Care leading brands are the FreeStyle Precision, FreeStyle Lite and FreeStyle Libre system.
The main responsibility of the Technical Engineer is to maintain STARS process equipment and support laboratory activities, ensuring the site delivers safe and effective products that meet customer needs while also maintaining compliance. This role works on a continental shift cycle alternating between 12-hour days and nights.
Main Responsibilities
1. Daily equipment monitoring and repair ensuring equipment availability to support product testing.
2. Ensuring conformance with all relevant Policies and Procedures. Contributing to the creation of Work Instructions and Operations Procedures to maintain compliance.
3. Problem solving of test equipment to achieve product quality and production schedule goals. Ensuring that productivity, quality and cost objectives are achieved.
4. Maintain planned and unplanned maintenance on test equipment.
5. Support stock reviews for Laboratory consumables.
6. Co-ordinate and implement process and equipment projects.
7. Validation of new processes and development of technical documentation for areas of responsibility.
8. Ensuring the department conducts business in a manner designed to be protective of human health, safety and the environment.
9. Responsible for compliance with applicable Corporate and Divisional Policies and performing other duties as assigned by management.
Requirements:
1. Third level qualification in Science/Engineering/Manufacturing discipline.
2. Minimum 3 years manufacturing experience preferred.
