Are you an experienced R&D leader with a passion for driving innovation in life-changing medical technologies? My client in Galway is currently looking for a Snr R&D Manager to step into a pivotal role where your expertise will shape the future of their cutting-edge products.
In this high-visibility position, you’ll spearhead the growth and direction of cutting-edge solutions—leading talented engineering teams and collaborating across global functions to bring transformative treatments to patients who need them most.
This is a high-impact leadership role offering the chance to work across a growing portfolio in Medical Device products. You'll lead talented engineers and collaborate across a global matrixed organisation to shape the next generation of minimally invasive solutions.
Role
* Lead, develop, and inspire a high-performing R&D engineering team focused on therapy delivery technologies.
* Drive innovation in transcatheter device design and procedure development.
* Collaborate with cross-functional leaders to align engineering capability with long-term business strategy.
* Grow technical and clinical expertise by partnering with internal and external experts.
* Guide resource planning, organisational scaling, and capability development across multiple sites.
* Ensure successful delivery of program objectives with complex, high-impact outcomes.
* Mentor and coach team members with clear development plans and performance feedback.
* Manage engineering budgets, resource allocation, and functional operations.
* Play a key role in strategic planning and decision-making, influencing both engineering and commercial outcomes.
* Actively shape a culture of excellence, innovation, and accountability.
Responsibilities
* A Level 8 degree in Engineering or related field (Master’s degree is a plus).
* Minimum of 7 years of relevant engineering experience within a regulated industry, ideally medical devices.
* At least 5 years of direct experience managing engineering teams, with a strong record of progressive leadership.
* Demonstrated ability to lead complex R&D programs from concept through to delivery.
* Excellent people leadership and mentoring skills with a strong focus on team development.
* Proven experience operating in a large-scale, matrixed global environment.
* Strong communication and stakeholder engagement skills.
* A passion for innovation and a results-driven approach to problem solving.
