Salary Dependent on Experience
The Intermediate/Project Quantity Surveyor will be responsible for providing comprehensive cost management services on various construction projects, supporting the delivery of accurate financial advice, cost estimates, and contractual administration. The role involves working closely with senior team members, clients, and contractors to ensure projects are delivered within budget while maintaining high-quality standards. This is an excellent opportunity for a proactive and detail-oriented Quantity Surveyor looking to further develop their skills in a dynamic cost consultancy environment.
Key Responsibilities:
Pre-Contract Services
1. Assist in preparing cost estimates, feasibility studies, and initial budget proposals for client
2. Develop detailed cost plans and bills of quantities using industry-standard software
3. Support in preparing tender documentation, including pricing schedules, bills of quantities, and tender analysis reports
4. Assist in evaluating tenders, analyzing bids, and preparing recommendations for contractor selection
Post-Contract Services
5. Prepare and manage interim valuations, progress reports, and cash flow forecasts for ongoing projects
6. Monitor project costs, identify potential cost overruns, and assist in managing change control procedures
7. Conduct site visits to monitor progress and ensure work aligns with the agreed scope and budget
8. Assist in assessing variations, change orders, and claims, ensuring accurate cost analysis and documentation
Client & Stakeholder Engagement
9. Build and maintain positive working relationships with clients, contractors, and other stakeholders
10. Communicate clearly and professionally, providing updates on project cost status and addressing client queries
Team Collaboration & Development
11. Work closely with senior team members to ensure high standards of service delivery
12. Collaborate with junior staff, providing guidance and support on technical aspects of quantity surveying
13. Maintain and update internal project documentation, ensuring records are accurate and up-to-date
Professional Development
14. Stay informed about industry standards, cost management best practices, and changes in construction legislation
15. Work towards professional accreditation (e.g., RICS) if not already attained
Qualifications & Experience:
16. Bachelor’s degree in Quantity Surveying, Construction Management, or related field
17. 3-5 years of experience in quantity surveying, preferably within a cost consultancy environment
18. Progress towards professional qualification (e.g., RICS, CIOB) is essential
19. Experience in managing the financial aspects of projects in various sectors, such as commercial, residential, and infrastructure
