Position Description
ESB Trading delivers essential asset optimisation services, risk management and wholesale market access to ESB Group and to its third-party customers.
ESB Trading is organised into a number of teams comprising Front, Middle (Risk Management) and Back Offices along with Finance, Modelling and Business Support. The Credit and Governance team, part of the Middle Office, independently assesses and reports on credit exposures and delivers an independent governance function to the Trading business.
This role will provide an excellent opportunity to be part of a team of risk professionals who oversee the credit and operational risks inherent in ESB Trading’s activities in the Irish Power, GB Power, Gas, Coal and Carbon markets.
Key Responsibilities
We are looking for a candidate with high potential to analyse, report and manage the credit risks within ESB’s energy portfolio.
The successful candidate will:
* Develop and update methodologies to support the counterparty approval process and the setting of appropriate credit risk limits.
* Develop analytical approaches to measure the credit risk associated with ESB Trading’s trading activity.
* Work with Front Office and Treasury to ensure that the expected collateral requirements are understood and provided for.
* Provision of effective credit risk reporting in line with ESB’s risk control framework and Counterparty & Credit Risk Policy.
* Develop solutions to ensure ESB Trading can effectively respond to new credit requirements in the market.
* Support the DC and NDC auctions and liaise with external counterparties in relation to their credit requirements.
* Work across the credit and governance team as required to ensure that all credit and compliance requirements within ESB Trading are met.
In addition, the successful candidate will:
* Pro-actively seek to further develop the capabilities of the credit risk function.
* Report monthly on credit risks to the Risk Management Committee.
* Work closely with other teams in ESB Trading to ensure credit risks are understood and incorporated into hedging decisions are effectively managed.
* Act as liaison with both external and internal stakeholders.
* Play an active role in shaping ESB Trading’s activities through provision of insight and constructive challenge.
Experience and Qualifications
* Minimum of 5 years relevant work experience.
* A third level qualification with a strong analytical or commercial content or equivalent work experience is required.
* A strong numeric and analytical ability with particular attention to detail.
* Responds to change within a fast changing business environment.
* Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
* Team Player.
* Proven ability to work on own initiative and deliver results to strict deadlines.
* An analytical ability with attention to detail.
* An understanding of energy markets is desirable but not essential.
Location
This role will be primarily based in ESB Head Office, Fitzwilliam 27, Dublin.

The successful candidate may work flexibly within their jurisdiction with attendance at the workplace for in-person collaboration on at least one anchor day per week. All smart working arrangements are subject to manager approval and ongoing review, based on the operational requirements of the role, the team, and the individual.
Reporting To
The successful candidate will report to the Credit, Governance Manager and Financial Regulation Manager, ESB Trading.

€57,950 to €68,150 per annum
