Job Summary
The Toolroom Supervisor will lead a high-performing team to deliver defined business goals and objectives, managing day-to-day toolroom activities within designated areas.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
* Manage daily operations of assigned tooling teams, including resource management, scheduling, and prioritization of duties.
* Oversee professional development and performance management of assigned teams, providing feedback as needed.
* Be responsible for mould repair and maintenance, monitoring tool performance, conducting investigations, and performing root cause analysis of major tooling issues.
* Compile and deliver critical tooling information reports.
* Establish strong relationships with customers and suppliers to drive continuous improvement and business development.
* Monitor and control budget/expenditure within the toolroom.
* Identify and implement continuous tooling improvements for future/repeat moulds.
* Report and escalate all issues to the Toolroom Manager.
* Assist the Toolroom Manager in developing tooling documentation and compiling maintenance procedures for each mould.
* Collaborate with Production Group Leaders to troubleshoot mould issues.
* Solve customer-related issues with the Quality Department as required.
* Attend internal meetings to establish priorities.
* Liaise with external suppliers on tooling component and equipment repair/replacement.
* Assist the Toolroom Manager in identifying and developing talent within the team.
* Create and deliver training as required.
* Capture all tooling intervention information and data on CMMS.
* Research and implement improvements to processes and procedures.
* Work autonomously within established procedures and practices.
* Facilitate and lead Lean Sigma projects.
* Comply with site Environmental, Health, and Safety requirements, training, and regulations.
* Adhere to all local site company policies, procedures, and corporate policies.
* Acknowledge West's Guiding Principles and adhere to the Corporate Code of Conduct.
* Perform additional duties at the request of the Toolroom Manager.
Basic Qualifications:
* Toolmaking qualification with 8+ years' experience, ideally in injection mould production.
* 5+ years of experience in a high-volume moulding environment, manufacturing, and/or repairing multi-cavity injection moulds.
* Advanced tooling expertise, developed through job-related training and considerable on-the-job experience.
* Excellent machining knowledge and skills.
* Ability to organize and prioritize tasks for self and team.
* Strong business relationship-building skills.
Preferred Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
* Previous supervisory experience.
* Bachelor's degree in engineering/management discipline.
* Project management qualification.
* Strong written and verbal communication skills.
* Good understanding of the injection moulding process.
* Experience maintaining hot runner systems.
* Knowledge of CMMS.
* Knowledge of tooling hydraulics, pneumatics, and electrics.
* Proficient IT skills, specifically Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook).
* Experience with 3D modelling and drawing software packages (e.g. Solidworks).
Travel Requirements:
* Must be able to travel up to 10% of the time.
Physical and Mental Requirements:
Physical:
* Light – exerting up to 20lbs/9kg of force frequently, and/or negligible amount of force frequently constantly to move objects.
* Job-related activities that require physical activity: Must be able to stand/walk for periods of up to 1 hour. Must be able to lift equipment and tools up to 5kg up to 10 times per day. Must be able to climb up and down stairs up to 10 times per day.
