Senior Buyer Job Description
We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Buyer to join our client on a full-time permanent basis. The successful candidate will be responsible for strategic planning, negotiation, and analytical skills to optimize purchasing processes.
Main Responsibilities:
* Supplier Sourcing: Identify and engage new and existing suppliers for raw materials and finished goods, ensuring the best possible terms and quality.
* Supplier Management: Build and maintain robust relationships with key suppliers.
* Negotiation: Use advanced tools and templates to negotiate commercial and contractual terms, meeting performance standards and contractual obligations while driving continuous improvement.
* Cost Optimization: Achieve operational savings through effective pricing negotiations and business improvements that reduce the Total Cost of Ownership.
* Contingency Planning: Develop contingency strategies and evaluate alternative options to mitigate potential supply and pricing issues in collaboration with commercial and technical teams.
* Market Analysis: Monitor and analyse commodity pricing, market trends, and competitor strategies to stay informed and proactive.
* Stakeholder Collaboration: Partner with internal stakeholders to understand project needs and develop tailored procurement strategies.
* Forecast Monitoring: Track forecast changes to assess their impact on supply chain activities and adjust procurement plans accordingly.
* Process Improvement: Generate and implement ideas to enhance procurement processes and procedures, contributing to overall business performance and fostering a culture of continuous improvement.
Required Skills:
* Experience: A minimum of 3-5 years' experience in procurement, preferably within a manufacturing environment.
* Procurement Expertise: Demonstrated expertise in procurement with strong sourcing abilities and a proven track record of collaborating effectively within high-performance teams.
* Category Knowledge: Deep understanding of relevant categories, including supplier capabilities, commercial models, and product lifecycles required to meet portfolio and customer needs.
* Decision-Making: Strong decision-making skills with a history of achieving results against key performance metrics.
* Market Insight: Interest in market dynamics and a sharp business acumen.
* Communication & Negotiation: Excellent communication skills with significant experience in managing supplier relationships and negotiating effectively.
* Analytical Skills: Ability to gather, analyse, and interpret data to support procurement decisions and strategies.
