POST: LOCUM RELIEF SUPPORT WORKER

Location: Staff allocation could be either within Centre based residential/day centres, or in the Community as Service needs require.
The Role: Support Workers provide a key-working caring role for a group of People Supported by the Services. This role comprises two main elements: personal care and support for individual development plans.
Reporting/Responsible To: Staff Nurse in charge/Team Leader/Team Manager/Service Coordinator.
Qualifications: Candidates must have a good general education. A recognised qualification in the field of intellectual disability or a FETAC level 5 course is an advantage. A full, clean, manual Irish Driving Licence is desirable, and a commitment to obtaining one within nine months is required.
Experience: Experience working with individuals with an intellectual disability and challenging behaviour is desirable. Full training will be provided.
Skills: Candidates must demonstrate flexibility, communication, and team-working skills, along with enthusiasm for the post.
Various Locations Across County Roscommon: North – Boyle, Ballaghaderreen, Frenchpark; South – Athlone; East – Strokestown, Elphin, Tulsk, Ballinagare; West – Castlerea, Ballintubber, Ballinlough, Cloonfad; Mid – Roscommon town, Kilteevan, Athleague, Tremane/Rahara.
Working Hours: Up to 39 hours per week based on a 7 day/night duty roster. Successful candidates will be required to work early mornings, late evenings, weekends, public holidays, night duty, sleep-ins, and irregular hours.
Annual Leave: 22 days pro rata per annum, hours per 100 hours worked.
Remuneration: €30,005 x 11 increments - €42,373 (Max) pro rata per annum. Long Service Increment (LSI) €43,159 pro rata per annum is payable after 3 years on the maximum of the scale.
Tenure: It is proposed to set up a locum panel of Support Workers who will be called if and when required to cover for staff on various leave within the Services.
Probation: A probationary period of nine months applies to the post. Employment may be terminated at any time during this period if the appointee is found unsuitable.

1. Staff must have a positive attitude towards working with persons with an intellectual disability.
2. Staff must treat each person with dignity and respect.
3. Staff are required to establish and maintain respectful relationships with individuals.
Main duties and functions:
1. Be an active member of your assigned team(s).
2. Advocate for individuals in the Services.
3. Ensure care and training for People Supported by the Services is of the highest standard.
4. Co-operate with the multidisciplinary team and facilitate reporting.
5. Assist with the implementation of programmes for individuals.
6. Develop positive relationships and assist individuals in achieving their goals.
7. Assist with transport escort duties as required.
8. Maintain confidentiality and manage individual finances.
9. Ensure compliance with Health & Safety regulations.
10. Perform other duties as assigned by the Team Manager.
