Job Description:
PURPOSE OF POSITION:
Automation/ Mechatronic Engineer required to support and extend our existing automation architecture within a rapidly expanding manufacturing environment. You will need to be quality focused, imaginative, capable of working on your own initiative and as part of a multi-disciplinary team.
JOB DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Expand the existing automation environment to integrate with our automated material handling systems, introduce robotic control and RFID tracking into the manufacturing environment.
2. Build smart systems by utilizing your mechanical, electronic and computer engineering skills.
3. Design and develop computer control systems for manufacturing.
4. Develop programming logic for manufacturing equipment.
5. Study the viability and performance benefits of new mechatronic equipment.
6. Present reports at internal technical meetings.
7. Work with equipment vendors to improve our automation capabilities.
8. Communicate technical concepts to co-workers, customers, and management clearly and concisely.
9. Collaborate with our automation partner to oversee the lifecycle of automation projects from inception to completion. This includes requirements analysis, specification, architecture, design, implementation, and testing.
10. Prepare & maintain technical documentation.
11. Work closely with Mechanical Design, Commissioning and Electrical Engineers.
12. Involvement in the full cycle of the machine control system specification and programming.
SKILLS:
1. Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

4. Proficiency in computers and electronics.
5. Knowledge of production processing.
6. Knowledge of the practical application of engineering science and technology.
7. Working knowledge of a programming language (C#, Java, Python etc.).
8. Working knowledge of PLC programming.
9. Ability to communicate clearly with end customers and project manager.
10. Ability to be creative and find alternative solutions when required.
11. Ability to create user guides and detailed documentation.
12. Quality focused with a high attention to detail.
13. Exhibit a continuous improvement mindset.
14. Project Management skills.
15. Knowledge of SQL would be desirable but not essential.
QUALIFICATIONS & RELATED EXPERIENCE:
1. BSc in Mechatronics, Electronics, mechanical engineering or similar.
2. Advanced Level PLC Programming is desirable.
3. At least 3/4 years’ experience with Automation and IT systems.
4. Working knowledge of Industrial Networks architectures (Ethernet IP, Control Net & Profibus).
