Senior Quantity Surveyor
We are working closely with one of Cork's leading contractors, who have an exciting opportunity for a Senior QS to join their team due to significant growth across multiple sectors.
The successful applicant will be based in the client's head office, located 30 minutes north-west of Cork City.
The ideal candidate will have a mix of project experience from residential, industrial, education, and fit-out sectors. The role encompasses various responsibilities including:
Key Responsibilities:
* Analyse blueprints and documentation to prepare time, cost, materials, and labour estimates.
* Perform all quantity surveying duties, including measurements, valuation, and agreement of work sections.
* Develop strong relationships with clients, vendors, and internal teams to discuss project costs.
* Monitor costs from vendors or subcontractors and manage issues in conjunction with the manager.
* Report on actual costs and examine estimates used by management for planning, organising, and scheduling work.
* Prepare cost and expenditure statements and other necessary documentation at regular intervals.
* Assess the cost-effectiveness of products, projects, or services, tracking actual costs relative to bids as the project develops.
* Set up cost monitoring and reporting systems and procedures.
* Conduct special studies to develop and establish standard hour and related cost data to reduce costs effectively.
Requirements:
* A degree in construction economics or quantity surveying is essential.
* A minimum of 5 years' experience in the industry is required.
* Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with excellent interpersonal and communication abilities.
* Proficiency in estimating packages, Microsoft Excel, and Word is necessary.
