Our Client
Based in North County Dublin, our client is seeking an experienced Direct Materials Buyer to support their production operations.
Responsibilities
* Purchase all direct materials to support production and spare parts service, in line with business requirements.
* Maximise the use of supplier scheduling and lean supply models to minimise inventory levels.
* Liaise with suppliers to ensure continuity of material supply and avoid production interruptions.
* Provide timely updates to internal stakeholders on supply issues and recovery plans.
* Apply structured problem-solving techniques to address root causes and implement corrective actions.
* Monitor key metrics related to supplier delivery, inventory, cost, quality, and service.
* Drive supplier corrective actions when performance falls below target levels.
* Maintain accurate supplier and material master data to ensure Planning and Purchasing process integrity.
* Contribute to cross-functional processes for evaluating and selecting new suppliers.
* Design and implement cost reduction ideas, including part transfer projects.
Requirements
* Bachelor's degree in Business, Procurement, Supply Chain Management, or Engineering.
* Minimum 4+ years' experience in Direct Materials, preferably in an electro-mechanical manufacturing environment.
* Desirable: experience dealing with international suppliers across Asia, Europe, and the USA.
* Proven commercial mind-set and ability to manage business agreements with suppliers.
