Due to the expansion of our training department located in Nangor Rd, Dublin 12, we are currently seeking a Technical Trainer to join the team. Reporting to the Technical Training Manager, the Technical Trainer will operate as part of the technical training team which comprises of both internal and external trainers. This is a key role within the team with a focus on delivery of new technology, product and progression training to all brands within Volkswagen Group Ireland. Comprehensive individual brand training will be put in place for the successful candidate to enable them to build the knowledge required to operate the role successfully.
Main Responsibilities
1. The delivery of technical training in the traditional classroom/workshop environment. Additionally support and enable the Technical Training team in the introduction of new digital training formats.
2. Collaboratively act as part of the technical training team to develop and devise technical training programs in line with the manufacturer's guidelines and standardized certification paths.
3. Ensure localization and utilization of manufacturer training materials to organizational requirements to ensure all objectives are met by both our partners in the networks and by our manufacturers.
4. Prepare training material (presentations, worksheets, etc.) and execute training sessions, webinars, workshops, etc. in groups or individually as required.
5. Record completions and report data on completed courses, absences, issues, etc.
6. Observe and evaluate results of training programs and work with both the Technical Training Manager and the external trainers to ensure training is continually reviewed for the best outcomes for our Partners.
7. Determine overall effectiveness of the training programs offered within the National Training Centre and work with the management team to make improvements as required.
8. Ensure all equipment, tooling and vehicles are maintained in a condition that allows training delivery within the National Training Centre.
9. There will intermittently be a requirement to travel within the European Union to attend training at each of our manufacturer training facilities.
Required Skills & Competencies
1. National Craft Certification in Automotive or similar industry experience or Certification such as CTT+ (Certified Technical Trainer) is a strong asset.
2. Knowledge of modern training techniques and tools in technical training and the ability to address training needs.
3. Outstanding communication skills and comfortable speaking to crowds.
4. Working knowledge in MS Office (especially PowerPoint) with experience in designing technical course content is an advantage, but Volkswagen Group Ireland will offer manufacturer training in this area to enable the candidate to achieve trainer certification.
5. Ability to work collaboratively as part of a diverse, motivated team – Leading by example while also demonstrating ownership of responsibilities using own initiative.
6. Very strong attention to detail, strong decision-making skills – Reacting in a timely and effective way to any deviations to plan or process in a fluid working environment.
7. Awareness and knowledge of the Irish automotive industry – Prior industry experience at Dealer or Manufacturer level is desirable.
