ATG are working with a leading environmental consultancy headquartered in Dublin, known for delivering innovative, science-led solutions to environmental challenges across Ireland and beyond. Their multidisciplinary team works across sectors including infrastructure, energy, water, transport, and planning.
Due to continued growth, they are seeking a highly experienced and motivated Principal Environmental Scientist to join our senior team.
As a Principal Environmental Scientist, you will lead high-profile environmental assessments, manage key client relationships, and mentor junior staff. You will be instrumental in guiding project direction, ensuring technical excellence, and driving sustainable practices in line with evolving legislation and best practice.
Key Responsibilities:
* Lead and manage large-scale Environmental Impact Assessments (EIA), Strategic Environmental Assessments (SEA), and other complex environmental projects.
* Provide technical oversight and direction to multi-disciplinary teams.
* Prepare and review environmental reports, including scoping and baseline assessments, impact evaluations, and mitigation strategies.
* Engage with clients, regulators, and stakeholders throughout project lifecycles.
* Ensure compliance with relevant Irish and EU environmental legislation.
* Develop and grow client accounts, supporting business development initiatives.
* Mentor, train, and support the professional development of junior team members.
* Represent the company at industry events, conferences, and regulatory meetings.
Key Requirements:
* Minimum of 10 years’ experience in environmental science or a related discipline.
* Degree (Master’s preferred) in Environmental Science, Environmental Engineering, or related field.
* Proven experience in leading complex environmental assessments and project management.
* Strong knowledge of Irish and EU environmental legislation and regulatory frameworks.
* Excellent report writing, communication, and stakeholder engagement skills.
* Chartered status (e.g. CEnv, MCIWEM, MIEMA, or equivalent) is highly desirable.
* Experience working with public sector bodies, planning authorities, or infrastructure developers is an advantage.
