The Radiology department at Hermitage Clinic provides a comprehensive range of diagnostic procedures delivered in state of the art facilities by a team of experienced professionals committed to excellence in clinical standards and patient care. The department has grown from strength to strength since its inception in 2007 and now performs more than 60,000 diagnostic and interventional examinations per year of an increasing range and complexity. With an experienced team of 10 consultant radiologists and over 50 employees including radiographers, assistants, nursing and administrative staff and the latest in CT and MR technology installed, this is an opportune time to join a team of highly skilled individuals dedicated to delivering a first class cross sectional imaging service.
This is a specified purpose contract to cover a period of Maternity Leave.
About the Role
We are seeking a Senior Sonographer to join the Radiology team. The role will report to the Radiology Services Manager. The Senior Sonographer will perform ultrasound scanning examinations of patients using a highly specialised skilled set. It will also include acting as an information resource for junior colleagues, delivering high standards of clinical practice and skills in Radiology.
Key Responsibilities
Clinical, Scientific and Technical
* Undertake all general, gynaecological and DVT ultrasound scanning procedures and to maintain a highly specialist standard of technical skill, efficiency and patient care in accordance with departmental protocols and procedures.
* Maintain full safety standards in ultrasound.
* Keep abreast of latest technical and scientific advancements within the field of ultrasound.
* Efficient and effective use of equipment and accessories correctly, reporting any faults to the Clinical Specialist Sonographer and/or the Radiology Services Manager (Two new Canon Aplio scanners).
* Participate in implementation of new technology and service developments.
* Be aware of the department's Local Rules and policies and to instruct other members of staff in safe practises.
* Radiologists on site daily for any additional support.
Policy Service Development and Implementation
* Be familiar with and understand the Clinic's policies and procedures in relation to Infection Control, Fire, Health and Safety at Work regulations and to attend mandatory training.
* Participate in the implementation of clinical procedures, protocols and work instructions.
The Person
Essential requirements for the ideal candidate:
Qualifications:
* BSc in Radiography
* CORU registration
* Postgraduate ultrasound qualification
Experience:
* Minimum of 2 years' experience in US scanning
* Familiar with a computerised patient information system and PACS
Knowledge:
* Thorough understanding of legislation relating to Health & Safety
* Understand the requirements of and promote CPD
