Senior Scientist, Cell & Molecular Biology

The role of Senior Scientist within Cell & Molecular Biology is to perform complex laboratory analysis of pharmaceutical products and proficiently use analytical instrumentation, calculate and analyze data, and record data. Routinely acts as the project leader on multiple projects, interacts with clients, reviews and evaluates data, writes reports and protocols, and is responsible for the scientific conduct of the project and communication of regulatory issues with senior-level team members.
A day in the Life
1. Independently performs method validations, method transfers, and analytical testing of pharmaceutical compounds in a variety of formulations.
2. Designs and completes experiments with minimal supervision.
3. Prepares study protocols, project status reports, final study reports, and other project-related technical documents.
4. Communicates data and technical issues to the client and responds to client needs.
5. Mentors, trains, and coordinates laboratory activities of other team members and assists in troubleshooting instruments and analytical problems.
6. Assists in designing method validation or method transfer protocols and establishing project timelines.
7. Reviews data for technical, quality, and compliance to protocols, methods, SOPs, client criteria, and Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP).
Education and Experience
Educated to a bachelor's degree level in a relevant area, e.g., chemistry, biochemistry, immunology, cell biology. In some cases, an equivalency, consisting of a combination of appropriate education, training, and/or directly related experience, will be considered sufficient for an individual to meet the requirements of the role.
Knowledge, Skills, Abilities
1. 5+ years’ relevant industry experience within a GMP laboratory (with experience in the following lab testing areas - Mammalian cell culture experience, bioassays; an advantage if experience with flow cytometry, qPCR, ddPCR, method development/validation experience).
2. Experience in Method Validation, Method Transfer, and Analytical testing.
3. The ability to plan, schedule, and carry out work for successful project completion.
4. A positive attitude and ability to work well with others.
5. Excellent attention to detail.
