What you can expect in a typical day:
As a Process Technician, you will play a key role in the operations of our Whitegate Refinery. All Process Technicians work on a continuous rotating shift basis and are required to respond to callouts on occasion.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Following all policies, procedures and regulatory requirements with regard to health, safety and environmental obligations.
2. Safely operating boilers, pumps, furnaces, compressors, exchangers, reactors, distillation columns, tankage, piping and associated equipment.
3. Transferring of crude oil from ships to storage tanks.
4. Transferring of finished petroleum products to and from ships and processing plant.
5. Loading and unloading petroleum, chemical and LPG trucks.
6. Optimizing the processing equipment to achieve maximum value from the operation.
7. Checking the processing plant, piping, tankage and associated equipment for leaks and defects.
8. Recording/logging operation and maintenance actions taken during shift in operator’s logbook.
9. Identifying and communicating workplace hazards and correcting or seeking assistance in correcting unsafe actions or conditions.
10. Working in a control room environment or outdoors on Process Units, tank farm and marine terminal, which includes manual handling activities, climbing tank stairs and vertical column ladders.
11. Regularly monitoring quality of finished products to ensure they meet the product quality specifications.
Education and Experience:
1. Possess a strong technical aptitude, an analytical mind, and the ability to work alone or in a team setting.
2. Preferably have experience and certification in process plant operation, oil processing, pharmachem, marine or allied continuous process industry.
3. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
4. Knowledge of Health, Safety & Environmental requirements associated with the oil and gas or similar industry.
5. Be comfortable working with all types of machinery.
