Overview
PepsiCo is on the lookout for a Principal Scientist to join the team based in Little Island, Cork. We are the concentrate business in PepsiCo (PGCS) working across the Beverage, Nutrition, and Snacks categories to deliver concentrate for many of PepsiCo’s mega brands including Gatorade, 7Up, and Pepsi. We are at the heart of PepsiCo products consumed everywhere in the world, spanning globally sourcing ingredients to manufacturing and distributing across the globe.
The purpose of this role is to assess and understand modelling approaches towards ingredients in beverage applications to help screen and assess potential effects. Evaluate ingredient interactions, their sensorial, functional, and microbiological effects leveraging data analysis and digital modelling.
Responsibilities
* Close collaboration with data analytics and R&D teams on prioritised ingredients, their characteristics, mechanisms of actions, and the use of data for development of models/algorithms.
* Work with product development, science and technology, front end innovation teams on potential formulation/processing and consumer insights considerations for modelling.
* Collaborate and develop research agreements with external research institutes, supporting the build of strategic ecosystems.
* Prepare and validate models and algorithms to assess shelf stability of beverage systems.
* Develop effective working relationships within S&T teams and associated stakeholders with key external partners.
* Perform risk & capability analysis for complex modelling technologies.
* Clearly communicate project status, risks, usable outputs to maximize impact to all stakeholders on a regular basis.
* Develop, manage, and communicate project budgets, timelines, and resource needs.
Qualifications
* Minimum of 5 years of experience with bachelor’s, 3-4 years of experience with master’s, and 2-3 years of experience with Ph.D.
* Passion and experience in food and beverage industry, digitization, and applications of AI technologies.
* Ability to review literature and determine new ways to approach opportunities and solutions.
* Effective organization, negotiation, coordination, and presentation skills.
* Ability to communicate effectively over all media across multiple cultures.
* Ability to function effectively in fast-paced situations: leadership to influence and positively motivate self and peers, independent decision maker, and initiative.
