Job Responsibilities
1. Delivery of Commercial Management Services for individual projects.
2. Establish and promote best practice in health, safety and environmental matters in conjunction with the SHQE department.
3. Provide assistance to the Senior QS and support on all commercial issues within the Project(s).
Team Working
1. Encourage and develop a culture of commercial awareness within the team.
2. Ensure the site team adheres to group procedures and governance.
3. Delegate appropriate work to junior staff while maintaining accountability.
Commercial Service Delivery
1. Prepare internal commercial reporting and any other required reports.
2. Prepare Valuations/Application for payment with full supporting documentation in accordance with the contract.
3. Prepare Cost Reports to the Client with contractually compliant supporting documentation.
4. Prepare and manage subcontract and material procurement schedules.
5. Administer subcontractor/supplier accounts from preparation of detailed requisitions, monitoring and authorisation of subcontract payments through to agreement of final accounts.
6. Undertake contract administration, including change management and maintain associated registers.
7. Identify commercial risks, opportunities, value engineering, and change.
8. Ensure the correct site records are maintained.
9. Implement a WBS structure to satisfy the Client & Contract requirements.
10. Assist with preparation of the Cost to Complete and Risk analysis Register for the project(s).
11. Prepare change events, extension of time claims, final accounts, etc.
12. Measure quantities in accordance with the standard methods of measurement as required.
13. Ensure appropriate Client Management is initiated and maintained.
14. Help maximise the cash position, including WIP control, cash flow production & improvement plans.
15. Maintain/assist in the production of the margin improvement plan on the project.
16. Undertake any other work as required by your line manager.
Corporate Development
1. Attend client engagement events for equivalent level customer feedback.
2. Involve in Business Improvement Initiatives.
Note: In addition to these functions, personnel are required to carry out such other duties as may be reasonably required to support the objectives of the Group/Company/Operational Unit.
QUALIFICATIONS / TRAINING
1. Degree qualification in Quantity Surveying/Construction Economics.
2. On route to being Chartered Quantity Surveyor (MRICS) or equivalent.
3. Full driving license.
4. All roles are expected to have the relevant competency skills cards.
SKILLS / EXPERIENCE
1. Commercially astute. Excellent knowledge of Standard Forms of Contract and Standard Methods of Measurement.
2. Computer literate with strong skills in Microsoft Office Applications (Word/Excel/Outlook/PowerPoint).
3. Good communication skills including presentations and ability to negotiate and persuade others.
4. Civil Engineering and Steel Structures.
5. Experience in estimating and takeoffs (desirable).
