**Job Title:** Sr. Robotics Software Engineer
**Job Summary:**
We are seeking a Senior Robotics Software Engineer to join our team at Amazon Robotics. As a key member of our software team, you will design, build, and deliver high-performance robotic systems that can perceive, learn, and act intelligently alongside humans. Our team is responsible for creating the core infrastructure and tools that enable roboticists, machine learning scientists, and software engineers to collaborate and deploy systems in the lab and in the field.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Architect, design, and implement robotic software applications, infrastructure, and tools.
2. Work with stakeholders across hardware, science, and operations teams to iterate on systems design and implementation.
3. Create robust, high-quality, well-tested software to interface with and control sensors, actuators, and other hardware.
4. Collaborate with machine learning and robotic controls experts to implement and deploy algorithms, such as machine learning models.
5. Profile, tune, and optimize system performance.
6. Create re-usable software and systems to accelerate robotics development.
7. Maintain high standards by participating in reviews, designing for fault tolerance and operational excellence, and creating mechanisms for continuous improvement.
8. Mentor junior team members.
Basic Qualifications:
1. Bachelor's Degree or greater in Computer Science/Engineering, Statistics, Mathematics, or equivalent.
2. Experience with contributing to the architecture and design of new and current systems.
3. Experience with at least one modern language such as Kotlin, Python, or C++ including object-oriented design.
4. Experience with professional software development experience.
5. Experience as a mentor, tech lead, or leading an engineering team.
6. Proficiency with professional software engineering practices & standard practices for the full software life cycle, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, and operations.
Preferred Qualifications:
1. Master's or PhD in Computer Science/Engineering, Statistics, Mathematics, or equivalent.
2. Experience in one or more relevant technical areas: robotics, computer vision, machine learning, sensors, real-time systems, embedded systems, distributed systems, simulation, high-performance scientific computing, or building infrastructure for engineering/science users.
3. Expertise building and testing real-time or safety-critical systems, such as aerospace, automotive, or medical devices.
4. Experience with interdisciplinary developments that involve hardware, software, and algorithm co-design.
5. Experience supporting large-scale infrastructure and tool development for scientific/engineering users.
6. Solid fundamentals in operating systems, embedded systems, or systems programming.
7. Demonstrable experience in building, programming, and integrating software and hardware for robotic systems.
8. Independent and ability to work with minimal direction.
9. Demonstrated experience incubating and productionizing new technology, working closely with research scientists and technical teams from idea generation through implementation.
Compensation:
Estimated salary: $150,000 - $200,000 per year
