Applications are sought for Ad Astra Fellow - Assistant Professor in Digital Chemistry within the College of Science.
The successful candidate will research in aspects of Digital Chemistry which is broadly interpreted to include integration of Machine Learning, Implementation of Automation, Artificial Intelligence tools and AI-derived algorithms, Cheminformatics and utilisation of big data in research in the chemical sciences.
Research focus could include development of:
* Machine learning approaches and tools for predicting reaction outcomes
* Approaches for predicting material or molecular properties
* Techniques for predicting or analysing spectral data
* Applied machine learning (ML)
* Analytics for big data or data integration and harmonization of data from different disciplines
* Digital molecular design and fabrication
* Automated closed loop experiments / incorporated edge AI / the interface of AI and chemical sensors
* The development of standards for all elements within the experiment lifecycle (including reproducibility)
* Leveraging machine learning techniques to develop new computational models for drug discovery, material science, agrochemicals, green chemistry, or related fields
* The use of new digital/data/automation tools, working alongside more conventional approaches, to the chemical sciences
Applicants who can also demonstrate overlap with the UCD Strategic research areas of One Health and/or Sustainability, those that can clearly collaborate with colleagues in the Schools of Mathematics and Statistics and Computer Science and those that can demonstrate potential links with industrial partners will be especially welcome.
Salary Scale: €62,855 - €99,533 Per Annum
Appointment will be made on scale and in accordance with the Department of Finance guidelines.
