**Job Title:** Controls Engineering Specialist

The Impact You'll Make in this Role:
* Responsible for the development and commissioning of automation and control systems.
* You will be responsible for automation and control systems design, specification, programming, simulation, testing and start-up assistance. The role focuses on levels 1 to 3 of the ISA pyramid.
* In this role you will be required to work closely with project team and OEM's to deliver the optimum solution for the business.
Major Role & Responsibilities:
* Manage the specification, development, installation, and validation of automation projects with direct responsibility for control systems.
* Lead discussion with project teams, provide technical support and make informed decisions on hardware and architecture selection.
* Working with OEM teams to design, develop and test PLC code in accordance with site coding standards.
* Work closely with OEM/Project team to fine tune PLC code during testing & development phase of projects.
* Conducting system testing and troubleshooting to identify and resolve any issues or bugs.
* Develop and test different aspect of automation systems including robotics, vision, PLC, HMI/SCADA, Motion Control etc.
* Responsible for completing controls aspects of projects within the schedule and budget.
* Aess existing technologies and processes.
* Research and implementation of new control technologies.
* Co-ordinate and manage controls elements of build and debug of equipment.
* Work with cross-functional teams to ensure projects are delivered on time and to required quality standards.
Requirements:
* Education: Must have highly relevant academic qualifications to Bachelors or Masters level with a qualification in Manufacturing, Engineering or Computer Sciences or another relevant area of study.
* Experience You should have over 5 years' experience as a minimum in a Senior Systems Engineering role with significant experience in the Life Sciences, Pharma or Medical Device manufacturing sectors.
* Excellent knowledge of control system engineering in the automation and overall operation of complex electro-mechanical systems
Skills Brief:
* Expertise in Process Automation and Systems Integration.
* Strong knowledge of Allen Bradley control systems including Servo motion control and FactoryTalk View ME/SE.
* Familiarity with Siemens PLC platforms (e.g., TIA Portal, WinCC) is highly desirable.
* Proficiency in PLC programming languages such as ladder logic, function block diagram (FBD), and structured text (ST).
* Strong understanding of industrial communication protocols (e.g., Ethernet/IP, Profibus, Modbus) and networking concepts.
* Experience with HMI/SCADA systems (e.g., Ignition, FactoryTalk).
* Experience of robotics and vision systems is beneficial.
* Familiarity with cybersecurity principles and techniques for securing SCADA systems.
* Knowledge of regulatory requirements (e.g., FDA, GMP, GAMP) related to automation and control systems in the MedTech industry.
* Proven experience with knowledge of computer validation/SDLC requirements and automation change control procedures. (e.g., GAMP 5).
