Structural Engineer Job Description
We are seeking an experienced Structural Engineer to join our Building Engineering team in Dublin, designing and delivering projects in Ireland and across Europe.
Your Responsibilities
* Undertake structural engineering design for projects from concept to detailed design and construction, reporting to senior engineers and project managers.
* Coordinate through the design process and integrate with associated design requirements from various design partners.
* Work independently and be responsible for checking the quality and accuracy of your own work.
* Provide technical guidance and mentoring to less experienced members of the team.
* Plan and monitor use of your time and resources on projects, including junior engineers and technicians, with responsibility for production of deliverables to agreed deadlines.
* Prepare structural calculations, reports, and specifications, supporting the delivery of designs through the construction process.
* Attend project meetings and communicate with all grades of staff, external design team members, and clients.
* Ensure compliance with Arup standards as set out in the company's quality procedures.
Your Education/Profile
* Degree qualified in Structural Engineering or similar, MEng or equivalent preferred.
* Chartered Membership Engineers Ireland or working towards same.
* A minimum of 5 years post-graduate experience developing strong technical skills in the design of structural engineering projects.
* Proven team player.
* Experience dealing with contractors' queries and attendance at site meetings.
* Awareness and willingness to develop understanding of building design beyond own discipline.
* Excellent planning, organisational, and time management skills.
* Excellent communication and report writing skills with strong ability to communicate through sketching, drawing, presentations, and writing.
* Ability to work under pressure, balance priorities, and meet strict deadlines.
* Competent in design software packages.
* The ideal candidate will be highly motivated, inquisitive, proactive, and willing to take on new challenges.
