Our Data and Analytics team is expanding, and we are looking for passionate and talented Data Scientists to join the team and make Musgrave a truly data-driven company. You will use advanced analytics and big data technologies to drive better actions for our business; personalising customer’s needs across all channels, implementing more efficient processes, optimising marketing spend and driving new data-based income streams.
Reporting to the Data Analytics Manager and working across Retail, Wholesale and Support areas, the main responsibilities of the role will include (not limited to):
1. Use abstract thinking and problem-solving skills to identify business opportunities and pinpoint problems.
2. Drive data science initiatives requiring a variety of analytical and business skills across our business, including customer behaviour, segmentation, loyalty, marketing, media, online and trading.
3. Provide business partners with data-driven insights to streamline processes, generate revenue and improve bottom line performance.
4. Clearly and concisely explain technical findings to non-analytical peers and business stakeholders.
5. Utilise best in class data mining and statistical techniques to derive business value from store, product, operations, financial, and customer transactional data.
6. Support our personalisation, data monetisation and business agendas by using advanced techniques to deeply understand customer behaviours/needs, evolving customer trends, and providing tailored shopper experiences consistently across all channels.
7. Provide a strong data-driven voice to the rest of the business and be an advocate for using analytics to solve problems and create business value.
8. Able to coach, develop and lead Graduates and Junior Data Scientists.
Experience, Skills and Education: The successful candidate will have / be:
1. 3 – 5 years’ experience in a similar role.
2. Passionate about using data, analytics and AI to drive business performance.
3. Proven track record of using advanced solutions that have transformed business performance.
4. Ability to query large data sets using SQL with experience with cloud-based environments an advantage.
5. Proficient in using Python or R.
6. Experience applying computational algorithms and statistical methods to structured and unstructured data.
7. Experience with exploring and developing solutions in Databricks is a plus.
8. Experience combining analytic methods with advanced data visualizations.
9. Ability to breakdown and clearly define problems.
10. Demonstrated ability to own and deliver projects that deliver real business value.
11. Strong communication, presentation and influencing skills.
12. A third level qualification in Statistics, Computer Science, Data Science (or equivalent qualification), preferably at post-graduation level.
13. Experience coaching or mentoring data scientists or analysts.
Work location is flexible in the Republic of Ireland. We have offices in Cork and Dublin. Work Smart hybrid work arrangement applies for this role. Frequent travel to Cork.
