The Denied Party Screening group is Amazon's main defense mechanism against unwillingly conducting business with such sanctioned entities.
We build highly-scalable, low-latency, Machine Learning based systems and algorithms which are integrated in critical areas of business for Amazon and used to detect and prevent prohibited transactions.
Our goal is to ensure that every transaction happening inside Amazon is compliant with strict governmental regulations.
We are looking for Software Development Engineers (SDEs) with strong analytical and problem-solving skills, to join us and participate in the full development life-cycle of this mission critical system that screens customers at every point of interaction with Amazon and its various businesses and products.
As an SDE on our team, you'll have the opportunity to work with advanced technologies to develop large-scale, high-availability, and low-latency distributed systems using cloud computing and machine learning.

Key job responsibilitiesAs an SDE in this role, you are responsible for:
Building large-scale, high-availability, low-latency distributed systems.
Working with your team to design, implement, test, release and maintain high-complexity software.
Proposing new and innovative solutions that you then develop and refine for production.
Being the end-to-end owner of critical components that keep Amazon and its businesses compliant.
A day in the lifeYou will see billions of transactions being screened on a daily basis.
You will hear about various critical Amazon Businesses (our clients) and about Amazon Legal, Compliance or Operations (our stakeholders).
You'll work with highly experienced and dedicated peers to deliver on critical tasks and then you'll see your work directly impact our customers and our stakeholders.
You'll be joining a team of highly dedicated engineers, all working to innovate in our space.
The team is a healthy mix of senior engineers (who will help you understand and deal with complicated concepts and scenarios) and juniors (with whom you can team up to create competitive environments and learn stuff faster, in a more engaging manner).

BASIC QUALIFICATIONSExperience (non-internship) in professional software development.
Experience designing or architecting (design patterns, reliability and scaling) of new and existing systems.
Experience programming with at least one software programming language.
Good written and verbal English communication skills.
Deep understanding / hands-on experience with modern object-oriented design and data structures.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONSBachelor's degree in computer science or equivalent.3+ years of full software development life cycle, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, and operations experience.
Experience with secure systems and architecting applications that deal with sensitive information.
