We’re looking for a talented individual to join the growing team at the GRDA. A background in dance and performance is required, but full training will be provided. A passion for working with kids is essential.
Role of a GRDA Dance Teacher
A GRDA dance teacher plays a vital role in the education and development of students. They are responsible for delivering dance instruction to students of various ages and skill levels. This includes planning, preparing, and delivering lessons that promote active learning experiences in dance. The teacher will foster a positive, supportive environment that encourages students to develop their technical skills, creativity, and a lifelong appreciation for dance.
Key Responsibilities:
* Instruction and Curriculum: Dance teachers provide instruction in various dance styles, techniques, and movements. They teach both foundational and advanced skills necessary for effective performance. Develop and implement a comprehensive dance curriculum covering various styles and techniques. Plan and prepare lesson plans that align with educational standards and requirements. Teach dance classes, ensuring a balance between technical skills and creative expression.
* Encouragement and Motivation: GRDA teachers inspire students to develop their skills, express themselves through dance, and build confidence in their abilities. Assess students' abilities and progress through observation and performance evaluations. Provide constructive feedback and individual coaching to help students improve. Motivate students to reach their full potential in dance.
* Choreography & Performances: Choreograph and coordinate performances for school events, competitions, and recitals. Assist with planning and executing dance showcases and other extracurricular activities. Prepare students for performance opportunities.
* Feedback and Assessment: Provide constructive feedback to help students improve their technique and performance, assess progress, and set development goals.
* Classroom Management: Maintain a safe and organized classroom environment conducive to learning. Establish and enforce rules for behavior and classroom procedures. Manage class activities and ensure effective use of time.
* Fostering Creativity: Encourage students to explore their creativity and express themselves through movement and performance.
* Building Discipline and Teamwork: Help instill discipline and collaboration in students, both individually and in group settings.
* Professional Development: Stay current with trends in dance education and participate in workshops, conferences, and other professional development opportunities. Collaborate with colleagues to enhance the educational experience for students.
* Cultural Education: Educate students about the cultural and historical contexts of various dance forms.
