Job Title: Experienced Researcher in Separation Technologies and Wastewater Treatment
We are seeking an experienced researcher to join our team at Trinity College Dublin School of Chemistry. The successful candidate will work on an Industry-driven project, IMPRESS, co-funded by Horizon Europe.
About the Project:
IMPRESS is a multidisciplinary project that aims to build a sustainable and zero-waste aquatic food value chain. The project brings together 14 partners from seven countries, including academic and research institutes, business associations, non-profit organisations, and SMEs.
About the Role:
The post holder will be responsible for developing processes for the removal/recovery of products from wastewater from marine-based industries. This will involve working knowledge of various analytical tools, including ICP-MS, GC-MS, HPLC, UV-Vis, Metal analysis, COD, BOD, Protein, vitamin, and amino acid analysis.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Developing separation technologies and wastewater treatment methods
2. Synthesising and evaluating ion-exchange resins adsorbents
3. Characterising process streams using various analytical tools
5. Writing papers and giving presentations on research conducted
6. Traveling to partner's sites for scaling and demonstration of technologies
7. Assisting with the day-to-day running of the research group
Requirements:
* PhD in Chemical Engineering, Bioprocess Technology, Food technology, Chemistry, Biotechnology, Materials science, or Physics
* Equivalent industrial experience in wastewater treatment, separation technology, adsorption process, and purification
Working Conditions:
This is a temporary full-time position. The appointment will be made on the IUA post-doctorate researcher salary scale PD1 at points 1-3 in line with Government Pay Policy [€43,907 to €46,447 per annum]. Appointment will be made no higher than point 3.
