Senior Occupational Therapist – CDNT
The Senior Occupational Therapist will play a vital role within the CDNT, delivering high-quality, client-centered, and evidence-based services to children and young people with disabilities. The role involves assessing, planning, and providing targeted interventions to support developmental goals, functional skills, and social participation for children in the Kilkenny area, ensuring that each child reaches their full potential within their community and family setting.
Key Responsibilities of Senior Occupational Therapist
* Conduct comprehensive assessments of children and young people to identify strengths, needs, and support requirements.
* Design and implement individualized intervention plans using evidence-based approaches.
* Facilitate therapeutic interventions that promote sensory integration, motor skills, self-care, and functional independence.
* Collaborate with children, families, and caregivers to establish functional goals and therapy plans.
* Provide family-centered education, guidance, and support to empower families in managing and facilitating their child’s progress.
* Work within an interdisciplinary framework to ensure cohesive and comprehensive service delivery.
* Participate actively in CDNT multidisciplinary team meetings, collaborating with physiotherapists, speech and language therapists, psychologists, social workers, and other professionals.
* Offer consultation and guidance to junior team members, acting as a mentor and supporting professional development.
* Contribute to the development and enhancement of the CDNT service in Carlow, bringing innovative approaches and strategies to enhance client outcomes.
* Assist in service evaluations and quality improvement initiatives in line with CDNT and HSE standards.
* Maintain accurate, up-to-date, and confidential records for all clients in compliance with HSE policies and regulatory requirements.
* Prepare reports, treatment plans, and other relevant documentation for team members, families, and other stakeholders.
Qualifications and Experience of Senior Occupational Therapist
* Degree or equivalent qualification in Occupational Therapy, recognized by the Health and Social Care Professionals Council (CORU).
* Postgraduate qualifications or specialization in paediatric occupational therapy (desirable).
* Minimum of three years’ experience as an Occupational Therapist, preferably with direct experience in paediatrics or disability services.
* Experience in a multidisciplinary setting and familiarity with family-centered practices.
