Role Purpose:
* The smooth, safe and efficient operation of the waste transfer and recycling building and open yard under highest environmental standard.
* Meet and greet customers and price loads accordingly.
* Managing on-site operations and resources through teams and individuals to maximise value to Panda.
* Responsible for producing the most efficient waste payloads.
* Responsible for optimising segregation of waste on site and producing best quality recyclable loads.
* Responsible for operating Plastic recycling plant in the most efficient and compliant manner.
* Ensure Health and Safety is a priority.
* Motivate site teams/individuals to improve performance.
* Optimise employee productivity and asset utilisation.
Key Accountabilities:
* Ensure all personnel working under their supervision (including subcontractors) have received adequate training and instruction for their duties, and are fully aware and compliant with all Health & Safety requirements for their duties, including the wearing of any specialist work wear.
* Ensure proper use and management of plant and equipment and that all equipment admitted to and operating on site is fully functional and compliant with all Health & Safety requirements.
* Leadership and motivation of team members to focus on meeting the operational goals.
* Ensure we have a focus on satisfying both internal and external customers.
* Minimise equipment downtime with effective PM schedules and correct operating procedures for both processing and material handling equipment.
* Keep up to date with developments in waste management equipment recommending and implementing changes to improve efficiency and reduce costs.
* The ability to resolve, day-to-day conflicts in a satisfactory and professional manner.
* Ensure that the site is kept clean and tidy and maintained in accordance with the EPA Licence and environmental requirements and measurements monitored and recorded as directed by relevant company compliance officers.
* Develop and maintain a culture of effective housekeeping.
* Management of direct reports in terms of: performance appraisals, holiday schedules and cover, attendance, absenteeism, punctuality, discipline, recruitment.
* Review, access, action material handling/recovery process to optimise effectiveness and minimise cost.
* Ensure that waste being sent for disposal is in accordance with the waste specification for the disposal outlet and that all weights are maximised on transfer vehicles.
* To seek value from all expenditure and safeguarding of assets.
* Develop, communicate and report performance metrics in line with site budgets and goals.
* Be flexible in the workplace and available to work Saturdays as required.
* Play an active role as part of the McElvaney team in the development of the site strategy.
Daily Key Relationships (other than direct reports):
* Weighbridge Operator.
* Health and Safety and Environmental Team(s).
KPI’s:
* Safety statistics.
* Site maintenance costs.
* Downtime.
* Disposal costs.
* Housekeeping.
Experience required:
* 1 to 2 years supervisory experience is desirable but not essential.
* Good people management skills.
* Good problem-solving skills.
* Customer focused.
* Have excellent communication skills.
* Be a quick learner with attention to detail.
* Be a team player but also have the ability to work under own initiative, be a decision-maker.
* Be flexible and adaptable in the working environment.
* Computer literate must have the ability to use Word and Excel.
