Sligo Social Services is delighted to announce the opening of The Solace Café from Thursday, October 17th, 2024. The Solace Café is a free out-of-hours friendly and supportive community space open to anyone from the Sligo/Leitrim area requiring mental health support in a crisis.
Operating out of Sligo Social Services, Retreat House, The Lungy Sligo F91RVOD, the Solace Café will be available Thursday to Sunday from 5-10:30 PM each week.
What is Solace Café?
This service is for anyone over the age of 18 experiencing a crisis, supporting someone in crisis, or experiencing a mental health difficulty that is causing emotional overwhelm or a feeling of being unable to cope.
Solace Café is a welcoming spot where you can gather your thoughts, draw on your strengths, and connect with others who’ve been through similar experiences. It is a comfortable, friendly, and safe environment.
Staff are on hand to provide direct assistance and signposting, but if you don’t feel like talking, that is okay too… we will give you the space to sit and have some tea.
If there is an immediate risk of harm, please attend your local A&E or call 999/112 for assistance.
This is an appointment-only service. We accept self-referrals and referrals from healthcare practitioners, NGOs, and community partner agencies. A member of staff will make contact with you to arrange your booking.
Please be aware the phone and email are not always manned; therefore, anyone who requires immediate support due to risk of harm should attend their local A&E or call 999/112 for assistance.
The Solace Café is delivered by Sligo Social Services in partnership with the HSE. This café forms part of a wider national initiative to develop and expand hours of mental health support in line with the Sharing the Vision: A Mental Health Policy for Everyone and the National Model of Care for Crisis Resolution Services.
We rely on your donations to fund our vital services in Co. Sligo. We also require donations for our Thrift Shop.
