What’s the opportunity?
We are seeking a skilled, enthusiastic and passionate Chef to work in primary schools. The ideal candidate will have a strong culinary background, excellent teaching skills and the ability to inspire students. The Chef will be responsible for delivering cooking classes and will work alongside a Facilitator. They will also coordinate closely with a project management team and primary school teachers to bring a love for cooking to the classroom!
Key Responsibilities:
* Conduct hands-on cooking classes with older primary school children
* Adapt teaching methods to accommodate differing levels of knowledge and abilities
* Provide constructive feedback and guidance to students
* Encourage the children in the importance of Health and Safety in the kitchen
* Work with the Facilitator and project team in planning, organising and enhancing the cooking sessions where required.
Qualifications:
* Professional Culinary degree or equivalent experience
* Minimum of 5 years as a chef in a professional kitchen
* Prior teaching experience is highly desirable
The ideal candidate:
* Friendly, approachable and enthusiastic
* Experienced working with children or young people
* Experienced delivering in-person cooking demonstrations
* Energetic, with great presentation skills
* Strong organisational skills
* Flexible and adaptable and willing to travel around to schools in the Republic of Ireland
* A Full driving license required
This role will require 22 to 25 working days from May to the end of June. There will be 10 to 15 overnights, up to 5 in a row.
The Chef will be paid per workshop, plus expenses.
Full training and materials will be provided.
The Chef will be Garda vetted prior to commencing the role.
