Position Summary:
The Director of Nursing (DON) will assume full clinical and operational responsibility for the delivery of the highest standards of nursing care and regulatory compliance at ATU. This senior leadership role requires a seasoned, visionary healthcare professional with a proven record in clinical governance, staff development, and quality improvement. The successful candidate will be an ambassador for clinical excellence, cultivating a culture of professionalism and respect for residents' dignity, safety, and well-being. Core Responsibilities:
* Clinical Governance and Leadership
* Oversee all aspects of clinical practice and operational management to ensure ATU consistently delivers safe, effective, and high-quality care.
* Develop, implement, and maintain clinical policies and best practice guidelines that comply with regulatory standards, ensuring a robust system for monitoring and improving clinical outcomes.
* Serve as the primary liaison for regulatory bodies and senior management, ensuring clear and comprehensive reporting, audits, and policy adherence.
* Drive a culture of accountability and high standards, guiding the team to exceed expectations in every aspect of resident care.
* Resident-Centered Care Excellence
* Lead the development of individualized care plans that honor residents' personal preferences, health needs, and independence.
* Champion a culture of dignity and respect in all resident interactions, ensuring that all care provision aligns with person-centered values.
* Engage closely with residents, families, and multidisciplinary teams to maintain open, proactive communication regarding care and support services.
* Team Development and Staff Leadership
* Recruit, mentor, and manage a high-performing team of nursing and care staff, fostering a positive and supportive workplace environment.
* Oversee workforce planning and ensure optimal staffing levels and skill mix to meet resident care needs, emphasizing continuity of care.
* Conduct regular appraisals and performance reviews, actively supporting staff professional development and training to uphold regulatory knowledge and clinical competencies.

* Quality Improvement and Risk Management
* Lead quality assurance initiatives to uphold ATU’s high standards in areas such as infection control, medication management, and incident reporting.
* Implement and monitor continuous improvement strategies through audit cycles, resident feedback, and clinical evaluations.
* Identify and mitigate potential risks, maintaining a structured approach to incident reporting and root cause analysis to prevent recurrence and enhance safety.
* Regulatory and Compliance Management
* Ensure all aspects of care delivery comply with national standards, including safeguarding, health and safety, and resident rights.

Candidate Profile:
* Qualifications: Registered Nurse with a current, active NMBI registration and an advanced qualification in Nursing, Healthcare Management, or a related field. A Master’s degree is preferred.
* Experience: Minimum of 5 years of senior nursing management experience in a residential or acute care setting, demonstrating deep expertise in clinical governance and quality improvement.
* Leadership Skills: Exceptional leadership and management skills with a focus on team engagement, professional development, and clinical accountability.
