The Irish team is led by the General Counsel, who is a member of the Firm Leadership Team, and also consists of four other Legal Counsel. Due to increasing demand we are looking to expand our team by hiring another Legal Counsel.
The individual appointed to this role will be expected to assist with commercial contract work throughout our business as required.
Involved in ad-hoc projects and the full range of work the OGC department undertakes.
The work is demanding and varied, so we are looking for a good all-rounder who likes new challenges and wants to gain exposure to and experience of all of the services and opportunities PwC has to offer.
OGC works as one team, with no clear division of specialities, which means that the successful candidate will be exposed to a broad variety of in- house matters, giving them the opportunity to develop new areas of legal expertise.
The individual appointed to this role will report to the Senior Legal Counsel. The successful candidate will have access to the broad range of training and developmental opportunities available to staff at PwC and will come into a defined career structure.
Purpose-led work you’ll be part of
As a Legal Counsel, you’ll work as part of a team of problem solvers, helping to solve complex business issues from strategy to execution.
Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
1. Review, draft and negotiate a wide range of commercial contracts with external clients and suppliers to the business.
2. Assist with advice on data protection law and review and negotiate data protection terms in both client and supplier agreements.
3. Work in collaboration with the wider PwC network as required on cross border deals including Global Framework Agreements and Master Services Agreements.
4. Create new precedents and guidance notes for use throughout PwC’s business.
5. Keep abreast of changes in current law and regulations in order to keep the business up to date.
6. Serve as a trusted business advisor.
7. Work closely with the other members of the OGC team and have the capacity and expertise
8. necessary to work independently and manage own workload.
Experiences and skills
9. A solicitor with 2-5 years plus PQE (or equivalent); top tier law firm experience or time spent working in-house an advantage but not a requirement.
10. Detailed knowledge of Irish Law.
11. Proven experience in commercial contracts negotiation
12. Experience in handling topics such as privacy and data protection law is an advantage but not a requirement.
13. Ability to work independently and prioritise multiple, often competing, deadlines while managing expectations.
14. Ability to use own initiative and apply common sense and practical solutions to the specific needs of the business.
15. Outstanding interpersonal skills and the ability to communicate effectively and gain trust and confidence with personnel at many different levels in the Firm.
16. A team player and relationship builder who enjoys supporting colleagues and has the ability to build rapport and establish trust.
17. Positive attitude with a strong work ethic, and excellent attention to detail.
