Purpose of the Post:
Our client seeks a dedicated and professional individual to deliver a high-quality, person-centredOccupational Therapy service to adults with intellectual disabilities. This job involves assessment, intervention, programme planning and implementation, discharge, and onwards referrals. Service provision may include directive, monitoring, and consultative approaches. The primary focus will be working with adults in their services, though flexibility may be required to meet the evolving needs of the service.
Requirements for this Occupational Therapist Job:
Essential
* Hold a qualification in Occupational Therapy recognized by the Occupational Therapists Registration Board at CORU. Annual CORU registration must be maintained.
* Evidence of participation in Continuous Professional Development.
* Effective communication, interpersonal, and teamwork skills.
* Effective planning, organizational, and time management skills.
* Relevant ICT skills.
* Provide two references (Current and previous employer)
* Undertake the Garda Vetting Process
* Hold a full clean drivers licence
Desirable
* Experience in inter-disciplinary team working.
* Knowledge of all relevant children and disability-related legislation and standards of practice.
* Hold a full driving license and have access to a car.
* Experience working with children and adolescents with a range of disabilities.
Key Duties and Responsibilities of this Occupational Therapist Job:
Clinical Duties:
* Be responsible for assessment, planning, implementation, and review of intervention programmes for service users. This is needs-based and focused on achieving outcomes defined and prioritised by the service user, their family, and carers.
* Liaise and work actively with other members of the multidisciplinary team, including education, nursing, and care staff regarding the coordination and delivery of Occupational Therapy intervention.
* Attend and participate in multidisciplinary team meetings to ensure integrated care for the service user.
* Consult with parents/guardians/service users regarding assessment, treatment, and education as appropriate.
* Participate in the development of clinical protocols and guidelines reflective of evidence-based practice.
* Manage clinical and non-clinical caseloads appropriate to the post.
* Become familiar with and work in accordance with relevant HSE policies, Progressing Disability Services Policies, HIQA standards, De-congregation, New Directions, legislation, and professional policies, guidelines, and requirements to ensure safe practice and high standards of service delivery.
* Promote a culture that values equality, diversity, and respect in the workplace.
* Communicate verbally and/or in writing, results of assessments, intervention programmes and recommendations to the team and relevant others in accordance with service policy.
* Attend clinical meetings, case conferences, and reviews as designated by the Occupational Therapy Manager or Senior Occupational Therapist.
* Document all assessments, intervention plans, progress notes, and reports in accordance with professional standards.
* Arrange and carry out duties in a timely manner within settings appropriate to service users and in line with service policy/guidelines.
* Seek advice and assistance from a supervisor/manager with any cases or issues that prove to be beyond the scope of his/her professional competence in line with principles of best practice and clinical governance.
* Maintain professional standards in relation to confidentiality, ethics, and legislation.
* Ensure positive representation of the Occupational Therapy service at all times.
* Maintain quality standards of practice and participate in quality assurance and clinical audit as appropriate.
Administrative Duties:
* Responsibility for daily administration duties and overall caseload management for the specified area.
* Record activity statistics, prepare reports, and engage in service planning activities in consultation with the Head of Clinical Services and OT Manager.
* Positive representation of the Occupational Therapy service through effective communication and engagement with other disciplines.
* Compliance with our client's HR policies with respect to all types of leave, to ensure the Occupational Therapy service needs are met.
* Compliance with Health and Safety regulations within the workplace at all times.
* Compliance with all relevant statutory local and organisational regulations and policies at all times.
* Maintain appropriate service user records and comply with department policies regarding clinical documentation practices.
* Contribute to implementing and achieving KPIs as agreed by the OT manager.
Education & Training:
* Contribute to, deliver, and participate in OT and MDT education sessions.
* Engage in the education of colleagues, student OTs, Service Users, and other healthcare professionals.
* Partake in career and personal development planning. Maintain own professional development and competence.
* Actively participate in induction, clinical supervision, mentoring, appraisal, clinical reflection, and be open to reflective practice.
* Attend mandatory training programmes as directed by our client.
* Abide by the code of ethics of the Association of Occupational Therapists of Ireland/CORU.
Quality and Risk, Health and Safety Management:
* Participate in any quality improvement projects and change initiatives which may be introduced.
* Follow and adhere to all risk-related guidelines as stipulated by Risk Management. Ensure the highest level of confidentiality pertaining to all organizational stakeholders.
* Maintain appropriate service user record details and statistics in accordance with organizational and departmental guidelines, along with the Freedom of Information Act.
* Comply with and contribute to the development of relevant organizational policies, legislation, and professional policies, guidelines, and requirements to ensure safe practice and high standards of service delivery.
* Work in a safe manner with due care and attention to the safety of self and others.
* Have a working knowledge of the Health Information and Quality Authority (HIQA) Standards and Guidance as they apply to the job.
