Job Overview
The Senior AI Engineer focuses on enabling systems for coding, deploying, and maintaining large-scale machine learning models throughout their lifecycle. By combining software engineering principles and data science/machine learning knowledge, the AI Engineer develops the data processes that make ML models generally available for use in products for end-users and customers. The senior AI engineer should understand machine learning algorithms and be able to explain ML models to the business. Also, experience in software engineering and various programming languages, including Python, SQL, and scalable computing such as Apache Spark are essential. This position also requires an in-depth knowledge of the latest cloud computing technologies that are imperative for ML model development and deployment in this era. The chief contribution of the Senior AI Engineer is their ability to guide, influence, and inspire peak performance, innovation, and adoption of the latest software/ML engineering practices to enable AI technologies across the TMUS organization.
Job Responsibilities
1. Mentor teams on best practices for GenAI development
2. Evaluate emerging GenAI tools and benchmark models.
3. Influence the organization's roadmap for deploying cutting-edge conversational AI systems.
4. Work with industry leaders to stay at the forefront of AI advancements
5. Lead the design, development, and deployment of advanced GenAI solutions, including models like ChatGPT.
Education
1. Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Statistics, Informatics, Information Systems, Machine Learning, or another quantitative field (Required)
2. Master's/Advanced Degree in Computer Science, Statistics, Informatics, Information Systems, Machine Learning, or another quantitative field (Preferred)
Work Experience
1. 4-7 years in Data Engineering, Data Science (Required)
2. 4-7 years of experience building and optimizing 'big data' pipelines, architectures, and datasets using SQL, Teradata, Oracle or similar (Required)
3. 4-7 years of experience in Apache Spark and Databricks (Preferred)
4. 4-7 years of experience performing root cause analysis on internal and external data and processes to answer specific business questions and identify opportunities for improvement (Required)
5. 4-7 years of experience in languages such as Python/R, Java/Scala, and/or Go (Required)
6. 4-7 years of experience delivering high-quality ML models in production (Required)
Preferred/Required Skills
1. Experience with conversational AI systems and models like GPT.
2. Strong understanding of data preparation, prompt engineering, and user experience integration.
3. Experience with GenAI development and generative technology innovations.
4. Knowledge of model evaluation processes, including reinforcement learning and human feedback loops.
5. Familiarity with emerging GenAI tools and benchmarking models.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
1. Advanced SQL knowledge and experience working with relational databases, query authoring (SQL) as well as working familiarity with a variety of databases (Required)
2. Solid understanding of machine learning concepts and techniques related to supervised and unsupervised learning (Required)
3. Ability to analyze a business problem/situation/task and develop it into a constructive solution to help the business make informed decisions. (Required)
4. Ability to manage work across multiple projects, good organizational skills (Preferred)
5. Domain knowledge related to various streams in telecommunications including but not limited to Marketing, Customer Experience, Finance, or Strategy. (Preferred)
