We are urgently seeking Staff Nurse - Theatre for our hospital in Westmeath Ireland.
Responsibilities
1. Work to NMBI Scope of Practice and maintain the competence necessary for professional practice
2. Be available and flexible to work in all clinical areas of the Hospital as required.
3. Deliver a high level of evidenced-based patient centred care
4. Adhere to both national and Hospital protocols, policies, procedures and guidelines and standards of practices.
5. Liaise with Theatre Consultants concerning patient care and treatment
6. Respect and maintain the privacy, dignity and confidentiality of the patient
7. Manage a designated caseload
8. Promote the health, welfare and social wellbeing of patients within our services
9. Actively participate as a multi-disciplinary / inter-disciplinary team member in all aspects of service delivery, clinical and team meetings.
10. Report and consult with the relevant CNM2 on clinical issues as appropriate
11. Maintain appropriate and accurate written nursing records and reports regarding patient care in accordance with local / national / professional guidelines.
12. Participate in clinical audit and review
13. Ensure that patient specimens and forms are accurately labelled without delay.
14. Handle all Theatre equipment correctly and with care
15. Check patient's identity and consent on entry/arrival to Theatre.
16. Observe, report and take appropriate action on any matter which may be detrimental to patient care or well being
17. Be aware of, and comply with, the principles of clinical governance including quality, risk and health and safety and be individually responsible for clinical governance, risk management / health and safety issues in their area of work
18. Participate in the development, promotion and implementation of infection prevention and control guidelines
* Accurately record and report all Incidents and complaints to appropriate personnel according to local service policy
Requirements
19. NMBI Registered General Nurse license in good standing.
20. To have at least 1 year's recent relevant post-registration nursing experience, preferably in an acute hospital setting.
21. Previous experience in a Theatre environment in any of one of the specialty areas of Anaesthetics, Scrubbing, Recovery, or Endoscopy is preferred but full training is given.
* Possess well-developed interpersonal and organizational skills, proven clinical ability, risk management, clinical audit, and excellent communication skills.
